We have been coming to Pelican Walk for decades. We are usually pretty happy with the accommodations, however this year....not so much. Unit 1012 is on the West side. The west side elevator was non-functioning all week long. It was very inconvenient and required a lot of wait time with the whole complex using only one elevator. I had read in previous reviews that there were issues with the elevator and was hopeful that the issues had been resolved. I noted on the agenda for the Owner's Association that they were going to be addressing the elevator upgrade in their meeting the week after we left. I hope they decide to get a new elevator and quit trying to piece the one they have together. The cleaning crew didn't really clean Unit 1012 much at all. The floors were the worst. Our feet were black after being there just a few minutes. When I reported it to the front desk, they thanked me and said mopping doesn't really clean these floors, it takes "steam" cleaning to get them really clean. Fine, but that doesn't explain all the sand left on the floor. We went and bought a wet swiffer, it took 5 pads just on the dining room floor to get it half way clean. Mopping made a huge difference! There were several small things that needed repairs in the unit. Curtain rods torn from the wall in 2 bedrooms, a kitchen trash can that didn't work. A washing machine push button that kept getting stuck, holes in walls needed repaired. The mattress in the Master bedroom was horrible and needs to be replaced. My family that slept on it had to sleep sideways on the mattress because it was so broken down. We still love Pelican Walk and will continue to vacation there assuming they get the elevator situation taken care of. Not sure if we will pick Unit 1012 again. We feel like we should have gotten our cleaning fee refunded as we left the Unit a lot cleaner than we found it.
