Perfect Countryside Cottage
The perfect grade II listed countryside cottage. Steeped in heritage yet featuring all modern amenities. The most beautiful escape within secluded, undulating 360 degree gardens with views across the arable land.
Nestled in 1/3 acre of undulating gardens, backing onto farmland lies Spring Cottage.
Dating back to the 1500’s, grade II listed, this house plays host to an abundance of period features while providing all the elements of modern comfort.
Ideally situated on the edge of a delightful village giving easy access to London by underground tube, overhead train or by road. Just 15 miles from Stanstead airport. Within easy reach of Epping and Chelmsford City.
The Space
Spring Cottage can comfortably accommodate 8 guests. With 3 large, spacious, beautifully furnished double bedrooms (2 with en suites) and 2 single bedrooms (accessible through double bedrooms). All beds have cotton bed linen and feather bedding.
Downstairs
Comprises of a spacious sitting room with an open fire in the inglenook fireplace, exposed oak beams, door to terrace and Smart TV. Second sitting room has exposed oak beams, sofa converts to a double bed if required. Dining room with wood burner in the inglenook fireplace, exposed oak beams and original brick floor, open plan to the contemporary country style kitchen with modern appliances, electric oven, hob and microwave, Smeg fridge/freezer. The kitchen is open plan to the light and airy garden room with its large kitchen table. 3 big opening windows to the rear of the garden room give glorious views of the gardens and stunning sunsets, double French doors to each side leading out onto the wrap around terrace.
Extending out from the kitchen on one side is an office with well stocked book shelves and an antique desk. To the other side is a utility room with washing machine and w/c.
The outside provides spacious 360 degree undulating gardens with a natural spring trickling gently all year. Scarcely overlooked so provides the perfect magical retreat with its secret passage, tree house and zip line tucked away at the back of the garden. There is a large wrap around patio providing a soft seating area and dining area with bbq facilities. There is a log store to the right of the house providing firewood. (Note garage and store room are not accessible to guests).
In the village there are two pubs, one serving traditional pub food and the other a finer cuisine. A 5 minute drive brings you to the infamous ‘Smiths’ of Ongar, a firm favourite of Rod Stewart!
Within easy reach there is a plethora of excellent restaurants, pubs, farm shops, wedding venues, heritage spots and places of interest. Endless nature walks along the Essex Way, which can be reached from the village.
