We love the historic look of the Balsam mountain Inn, we learned that it changed ownership a few years back and the new owners are looking to preserve the classic look that appeals to everyone so much. They want to keep it as original as possible which is great, the down side of that is they removed the window units from the rooms. "I called them about a reservation, they gave me a price. I told them that I just saw a price that was lower. They said this was the lowest available and that if you book the reservation with any other avenue that the reservation isn't guaranteed. Someone was really wanting a commission. Saved $ by not booking with the hotel. "

"Very nice place. Checked in and out efficiently with very helpful staff. Rooms were good, not a lot of room but comfortable and clean. Breakfast area was small. Breakfast is listed as continental and it is with waffles. Only thing i missed was hot tea. There were no tea bags for breakfast or in the evening."
