"This is our second stay here as we loved it so much the first time. Warm welcome, beautiful grounds, gorgeous rooms in a traditional country mansion. There is a walk along the salmon river to the fishing hut before you return to the sitting room with a real fire and a G&T at the honesty bar.
We loved exploring the wildness of the walled garden with bee hives (you can buy the honey back in the house) and free range chickens and raspberry bushes laden with big, fat fruit!

Upon arrival we found the reception staff to be very disengaged and hardly shared any warm words of welcome, nor where they supportive in aiding us to find Parking as "all free spots were taken".
When we signed out after 2 nights, the reception again hardly bothered looking at us nor say thank you and hope you had a nice stay, I had to ask if all was okay and we could...

"The hotel was perfectly located for walking. The room was very clean there was just some lipstick/ makeup marks on the bathroom wall which I didn't expect as the room was expensive. But overall it was a luxury experience. Breakfast was nice"

"The property is very nice, quiet surroundings and the perfect view you will expect from a hotel this price. The food is above expectation with a totally different menu 2 nights of stay. A final point that the staff are amazing particularly April and Poppy, fantastic waitresses who care for their guests dinner, stay and well being."

Hotel was beautiful and certainly above the ‘stars’ given.
Bedrooms were massive and tastefully decorated. Breakfasts were amazing and plenty of it.
Some decor dated bit the staff certainly made up for any of that. .. Kind, professional, knowledgable, engaging abd with a sense of humour. …. Certainly a credit to Hotel.
Hotel has recently been modernised bit nit lost its Victorian charm.
Definitely worth a visit "
