Very uncomfortable Mother's Day long weekend. Rented a junior suite and the air conditioner did not work properly, our room was at a consistent 80 degrees. Maintenance was unable to fix it so we were given one tiny desk fan! Management said they would move us for our 2nd night as they were fully booked oir 1st night. Then when night 2 arrived, we were told it would be until night 3 as they were still booked to capacity. The second night we were given one more tiny desk fan. Finally the 3rd night we were moved supposedly to an upgraded room, however it had less beds than our previous room but we made due because the a/c worked. The rooms are not kept up, paint and wallpaper are peeling, stained rugs, chipped furniture; unacceptable for such pricey rooms. The iconic Empire Hotel is just not what it used to be and if they are so busy at constant full capacity why are they unable to properly maintain it? I was unable to speak to a manager until I checked out as I was given the runaround by front desk staff. I heard another woman complaining about the a/c in her room not working and she was told the same story as me, cannot move, at full capacity. The rooftop bar was the best part of the stay and of course the proximity to the arts. Would definitely not stay again.
