The Space:
Nestled in the heart of the Red River Gorge, this charming chalet cabin offers a cozy retreat for nature enthusiasts and relaxation seekers alike. With two bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms, it strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. The highlight of this mountain oasis is undoubtedly the hot tub on the spacious porch, where guests can unwind while soaking in breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness. For those seeking a touch of adventure, there's a bed tucked away in the loft, providing a unique sleeping experience with its own private balcony for a view of the stars! This mountain chalet cabin is a sanctuary of tranquility, inviting guests to savor the serenity of the natural world while enjoying the comforts of home.

The Neighborhood:
Mountain Chalet is located in the Paradise valley development! It sits just a few minutes off of highway 715. At the same turn as Redpoint BBQ! only a few minutes from the restaurant.
Mtn, Chalet sits right off the gravel road and is above the valley.

Getting Around:
A couple parking spots just off the gravel road. Easy to get in and out of the area back to the main road. and 2 minutes to Redpoint BBQ!

Other Things to Note:
Each cabin is unique to specific items they include, however, RRG Getaways supplies the listed items below at all cabins as a baseline for guests. A starter amount of the following: hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, dish pods, laundry pods, and basic cleaning supplies. Any additional items needed will be the guest's responsibility to supply. We do not supply anything considered perishable or consumable, this includes but is not limited to, coffee, salt, pepper, oil and the like.

Pets are allowed at this cabin. We charge a flat pet fee of $50 for up to two pets. Please be sure to add any pets to your reservation. If you do not see where to do so, reach out to us so we can apply our pet fee.

This cabin utilizes well water that we filter for bathing, cooking and drinking. Though we change filters regularly, the water does retain a natural sulphuric smell. Guests are welcome to bring their own drinking water if they’d like.

  • Standing under the Natural Bridge in Slade Kentucky. Its namesake natural bridge is the centerpiece of the park. The natural sandstone arch spans 78 ft (24 m) and is 65 ft (20 m) high. The natural process of weathering formed the arch over millions of years. The park is approximately 2,300 acres (9 km2) of which approximately 1,200 acres (5 km2) is dedicated by the Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves as a nature preserve. #Nature

  • This is sky bridge. The most massive arch in Red River. it spans over a hundred feet and about 50 feet in the air. Probably the most famous arch in Red River, it has been seen in movies. Many astro-photographers flock here because of it's structure and clear skyline. If you get a chance, the trail is only .8 miles and very much worth it. You first walk across the top of the arch, it is so big that you are halfway across before you notice your not just on a narrow rock path. then you circle around to be under the arch.

Bare bones but adequate, we stayed in winter and it is quite drafty. Most things on the cabin are slanted downhill (ex: floor, microwave) and the intense winds during our stay made us nervous because of the sounds the house made and the trees in close proximity (including two growing through the porch). The faux fireplace heater does not work.

We loved the cabin and the outdoors. We really enjoyed the loft and back deck. We also enjoyed that the cabin had good wifi and a smart tv as well (the last cabin we stayed at only had a dvd player and 5 dvds). I came for work and the venue I worked at was only 7 minutes away which was lovely.

Downstairs bedroom was too small, twin bed for a couple in their upper sixties, no place to put luggage but on the floor then you couldn't walk. No dish towel or dish rag, one roll of paper towels for 4 adults, 3 nights. One hand towel in the downstairs bathroom. No rug in the bathroom and the shower curtain didn't come close to sealing, what a mess to step out into! Floors must be warped or something because doors wouldn't open. The toilet should be replaced, I understand it is their water but it was gross! The couch was impossible to sit in comfortably and if you did sit in it you couldn't get out. The best thing about it was the location, very close proximity to what we wanted to see and do. And the kitchen was very adequate, other than no towels. Oh, and the ceiling fan in our room didn't work.

Would not stay again.

Wasn't impressed with cabin. Front door and downstairs bedroom door wouldn't open fully due to the floor buckling. Bathroom floor in front of toilet was missing a piece of flooring. Downstairs bathroom sink had a hole behind the faucet. The shower curtain was disgusting. Left over soap scum from previous visitors. It could've easily been washed considering it's fabric. They stated hard water, believe them I didn't wash my hair the entire stay. Plenty of towels and wash cloths. Kitchen was well stocked only minor inconvenience of poor workmanship. Ie dishwasher not attached to counter therefore it fell out when opened. Deck and balcony was nice, beautiful views. Hot tub was nice. A very small charcoal grill on premises.Beds were comfortable. AC was amazing. Overall a peaceful stay, great location and quiet. However didn't meet expectations for price range.

Scary stay

We arrived in the cabin, had a wasp in it and a nest in the outside gutter, the property manager came quickly to spray. That night was a terrible storm and the entire cabin reeked so loudly that I did not sleep the entire night. The floors are sloped and the entire property is somewhat terrifying-also quite a drive from Miguel‘s and natural Bridge. Will not stay again.

Spring Break Weekend

Two of us stayed in the cabin for a long spring break weekend and this cabin was perfect for us. The cabin was easily accessible with our truck and a good location to other RRG sights. We loved the hot tub, views from the cabin, and games/puzzles provided. It was clean and while I was worried about potential sulphuric water smell we barely noticed it. The kitchen had most pots/silverware/cooking utensils that you’d need, but not many cups or plates so if there’s more than 2 of you staying there you may need to bring your own disposables. We would definitely stay here again!

Cabin itself nice but…

Cabin itself is nice, however, there was a very musty/sour smell in the kitchen. One side of the couch smelled like urine. Dog hair everywhere in the floor. I’m glad there was only 2 of us here because there was only 2 cups to drink from. We had to wash towels because there were only enough for us. We didn’t spend much time at the cabin so it worked ok for us but had we planned to stay in the cabin more this would have gotten many less stars for our stay.

Inadequate Heating System

This cabin was okay, but for the price we booked I would have expected it to be markedly nicer. My sister booked a four bedroom, four bathroom immaculate rental for less than we were paying for this cabin. It was clean enough I suppose, except for a lingering sour/rotten smell in the kitchen which remained even after we swept and mopped everything. While I’m sure the cabin was amazing and beautiful when it was newer, it unfortunately has not been updated in some time and not sure the upkeep has not been tended to as it should. It is drafty, has dripping faucets, sloping floors, and the amenities consisted of a bottle of dish soap, a mop and bucket, and a sponge. We went in December, and the beds were made up with a sheet and a very thin, summer weight coverlet. There were no blankets and no extra blankets or throws anywhere. There is also a non-functioning “wood stove” that was apparently only ornamental. This matters as it was very cold when we arrived, and while the heat was trying to warm the cabin, it was unable to raise the temperature to above 62 at its warmest. We contacted the host multiple times about the temperature and they did responded two times before ghosting us until morning. We had to sleep huddled in our clothes and coats until daylight when we left. They did agree to refund our money (hence 2 stars), but this was the worst stay on VRBO we have ever had.They left us overnight in a very cold cabin and just went to sleep?!?! We do not recommend.

Lovely getaway

It was far enough and private enough away for our anniversary trip! We really enjoyed the cabin, it was beautiful (aside from the TV remote not working, and the Jacuzzi tub inside when turned on sprayed dirt and bugs so we didn't use these things but they weren't missed) we loved the hot tub, privacy of the deck, the full kitchen and little fire pit outside with logs included.

We liked the property very much. It wasn't quite as quiet as we would have preferred. There were a lot of vehicles going in and out of the location to other cabins which can not be controlled. Plus, there were a lot of vehicles going to the restaurant which is on the same road.

There is a very Nice stay you need a new broom. That one was broken and I couldn’t sweep the floors or the back porch which really needed it. A little plastic scrubber from Dollar General to wash the pans extra blanket in the closet.

Mountain Chalet is Just “OK”

Enjoyed the hot tub! Quiet area. Location is good, road to the cabin is rough and narrow. Deck was in need of cleaning, grill is broken and there were cobwebs from the ceiling fan to the ceiling. Vents were dust covered and one is broken. Dishwasher is not anchored and tips forward if both trays are pulled out for loading.

Beautiful getaway

The cabin was beautiful and in a great location. The balcony had a great view and hot tub was nice. We did have issues with wifi and it took a while to get fixed, but there was plenty of service so we didn't get trapped with no cell service. Great time overall.
