Welcome to Chalet Truman, our much-loved alpine home in the peaceful hamlet of Les Albertans, just a short walk from beautiful Lac de Montriond and only a five-minute drive from the Ardent gondola. Whether you're planning a winter ski holiday, a summer adventure, or simply somewhere to relax and enjoy the mountains, Chalet Truman is perfectly placed to explore everything the Portes du Soleil has to offer.

We believe the chalet is over 200 years old and was originally built as a goat shepherd's retreat. It has been thoughtfully updated while retaining its original character, so expect exposed beams, cosy spaces and authentic alpine charm rather than a modern purpose-built chalet.

THE CHALET

Chalet Truman comfortably accommodates up to eight guests and is ideal for families, couples and groups of friends.

The welcoming open-plan living area is the heart of the chalet, with comfortable seating, a traditional log-burning stove and plenty of character. After a day on the mountain, it's the perfect place to relax with family and friends.

The well-equipped kitchen includes everything you'll need to prepare breakfast before heading out or a leisurely evening meal after a day outdoors.

WINTER

The Ardent gondola is just a five-minute drive away, giving you quick and easy access to Avoriaz and the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, with over 600 km of linked pistes. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter walks are available from the doorstep, while cosy evenings beside the log-burning stove provide the perfect end to a day in the mountains.

SUMMER

Summer is every bit as special. Walk to the beautiful Lac de Montriond for swimming, paddleboarding or simply relaxing beside the water. Explore hundreds of kilometres of hiking and mountain biking trails, discover waterfalls, mountain restaurants and picturesque alpine villages, then return to the peace and quiet of Chalet Truman.

ABOUT US

We're Steve and Annie, and together with our three grown-up children we've spent many happy years exploring this beautiful valley in every season. We were fortunate enough to become the custodians of Chalet Truman in 2025 and have loved carefully restoring this wonderful former goat shepherd's retreat while preserving its unique character.

The recommendations in our guide are all places we or our friends have enjoyed and are the ones we'd happily suggest to our own family and friends.
