"Tarbert is such a sweet little town. The castle ruins were magical. The hotel itself - very convenient, easy parking, incredibly nice and very hardworking staff. The meals were SUPERB! The room was in good condition. The bed was a bit on the soft and saggy side. Great view though over the water. Hallways are clearly under ongoing repairs. The dinner dining area is quite nice. Breakfast area could use a refresh (especially that first booth seat).
Overall, the Anchor Hotel was a great 2 night...

"I have rarely used exceptional to review a hotel but the Kames was. We travelled here from New Zealand on holiday and we only had one night but it was exceptional.
The restaurant menu is top class, the range on the menu was great and seriously 10/10. "Only stayed for one night, while on our way to Islay, but Stonefield Castle offered a perfect combination of beautiful location, traditional Scottish castle atmosphere and modernized rooms. Very friendly staff and the restaurant served very well prepared dishes at reasonable prices. The view from the restaurant was spectacular (earlier in the day), but unfortunately dark when we had dinner :-) Wi-fi wasn't too stable, but we were not there for the wi-fi anyway."

"The hotel was class , looked dated , which i like , but the rooms were like wow , wouldn't expect going into a hotel which on the outside , and in the halls were like walking into the late 19th century the i went into a room a basic btw , and a beautiful mural of david bowie and just transformed it into modern, was such a wow factor , the staff were like family , we went to the pub about 3 mile away , and the boss was there , talking away as if we were family, ive never felt so like home but...
