"We arrived quite late, around 9:30pm, but check-in was quick and easy. Every member of staff we encountered was incredibly polite and welcoming, and the hotel itself was absolutely spotless.
The spa was still open for another half an hour when we arrived, so we made the most of that, which was lovely!
My only real disappointment was the spa access restrictions, which weren’t made particularly clear when booking through Expedia. Hotel guests can only use the spa facilities between 7am–10am and...

Room was ok...
Bed was big, as was TV, but there were things that let it down. Cheap furniture, a wobbly toilet, an unsuitably small shelf in shower, cheap tea and coffee. Also only one bath towel between two, and one hand towel - no bath mat.
For an expensive room (even for a Sunday) it was quite basic in lots of ways, and disappoining when compared to the plush bar and seating areas downstairs.
Evening meal and breakfast were excellent....
"What a stunning property. A beautiful, loved home with such small intricate thoughts to make your stay stress free.
Simple things like cleaning materials, hand-wash, extra towels, throws, board games and books....... I know they sound simple things, but a lot of properties miss these things out.
Our host was attentive and available if we needed and he made the process so easy.
It was great for our dog, with 2 parks within 100m of the property.
I would highly recommend this quiet retreat if...

"Highcliffe House has a magical blend of location (impressive views in a charming ‘seaside’ town close to top restaurants and desirable trail heads), ambience (Victorian charm and elevated decor) and comfort (luxurious linens, heavenly beds, good-sized rooms with lots of extra touches).
