"The lake is beautiful, the place is nice, security is ok, the people give good service BUT….there is a high danger of the 3 deseases and there are many moquitos, especially during the rain season that starts in May. According to the locals hospitals are filled in that time. The hotels have no plan, do not fumigate, do not inform, do not do anything to avoid the number of moquitos in the room with that risk. When addressed they ignore as they are not the decisionmakers. The authorities are making a big mistake, it is almost impossible to avoid getting stung, I killed pn arrival more than 70 mosquitos in the room and closed all possible entries, slept with clothes and repellent on and still got stung many times. The bites are nasty and hurt for days. Dont go unless they are starting to take care of this danger as they do now with security. Other countries fumigate, secure and inform, el salvador does not seem to do that putting tourists in unnecessary danger, especially children under 5 is was told by locals."
