Cliffside - Rock Hounders' Paradise

Located on a sprawling ranch, this rural getaway is a ROCK-HOUNDERS HEAVEN! Multiple wet weather creeks crisscross the property surrounded by stunning rock formations and ancient bluffs. Responsible rock hunting and hiking are allowed. Boasting ensuite baths and sliding glass doors in every room, this 5-bedroom, 4-bath can accommodate both privacy and quality family time.

Just a short drive to Mason, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, London, the Llano River, and the Eckert James River Bat Preserve.

The space

Main house has four bedrooms with four ensuite bathrooms. Bedrooms are at each corner with kitchen and living areas in the center. Detached second house has a queen bed along with a study / work desk. The Recreation Center and swimming pool are just a short walk away.

Guest access

Entire house and 486 acres of hiking, biking and nature. Swimming pool and Rec Center are shared with the one other AirBnb on the property, Windmill Cabin which sleeps 6. The Windmill Cabin is located 2 miles away.

Other things to note

Ice maker, Washer & Dryer are located in the Rec Center at no additional charge. Rec center activities include billards, ping-pong, air hockey, fooseball, TV, puzzles, board games, BBQ pit, kitchen, refrigerator, and two bathrooms.

Secluded resort

We stayed with a large group. The area is secluded enough to stargaze in peace. We Slept well and hung out in the pool every evening. Kitchen had all the tools needed to cook and the game room was great to entertain. The host was very communicative and helpful. We plan to make this a reoccurring location for this trip.

This was an amazing place! The pool and game room were great fun for the kids and there was nice hiking. Th setting is beautiful with high bluffs and the creeks had water when we came so there were frog songs at night and fireflies. The kids had a great time and the porch was lovely for relaxing on in the evening. If it rains, bring bug spray, just like for anywhere in the summer. The hosts were kind and friendly and everything was perfectly taken care of!

Great Escape

If you would like to get away from it all, this is the place! Just you and nature. The house was very clean, well stocked and comfortable beds. The rec room has many options to keep everyone busy. Not to mention the pool. Great host!

Perfect!!

This was definitely one of the best vacations I've taken my family on. The house was spacious and clean. The property was absolutely beautiful. The rec center was a short walk and had everything you could think of to entertain the kids. We could not have asked for more and we will absolutely be back!!!

Last Minute Weekend Getaway

Our stay in Cliffside was all that we could’ve hoped for with the exception of the gym no longer being a part of the experience, but I think everyone got their workouts in through hiking all through the property. Besides, who goes to a “getaway” to workout?! We spent our mornings playing in the rec room (which had so many different activities to choose from), hiking on and off the trails near the house, or sitting outside and relaxing peacefully. In the afternoons, we’d visit the pool and have solid family time while still enjoying the 90+ degree heat in October. In the evenings, we had plenty of firewood to make great bonfires to sit under the beautiful state and make s’mores before heading to a quiet and restful slumber. All-in-all, it was a laid back and rejuvenating weekend with zero stress, zero timelines to stick to, and lots of playing or chillin. My recommendations to the owner would be leave some cleaning equipment in the kitchen (I.e. clothe, sponges, cleaning solution), fix the toilet chain in one of the bathrooms, and update pictures/amenities on website since the gym is no longer offered.

Wonderful escape from hustle and bustle

Stay at the property was wonderful. Having access to the trails is a great touch. Perfect place far an quiet getaway. Mr Billy is very accommodating and communication is great. Would definitely stay again.

Ultimate Mason Stay

The cabin had everything that you would need, and was superbly located in a scenic ravine within easy walking distance of the swimming pool located at the well-equipped recreation center. Easy drive into Mason, TX for supplies and activities. Definite repeat.

Super quiet if you are seeking country life

First off, we had a splendid time. This is perfect for a family reunion or church retreat. Also, the closest store is about 30 miles away. It is also very secluded therefore, expect bugs and some wildlife. We are country folk, so this did not bother us one bit. Staying in the main house and guest house was great for our family of 10 plus 1 Boxer. Ages 72-1, and yes we had everyone with us! The pool was clean and occupied our time as did the rec room! I wish the creek had some water while we stayed but even without, the views were spectaculor! We enjoyed our time here and if we ever need a large location with several large families, this is a place I would recommend because it has 3 houses in the vacinity for everyone to get together and enjoy the week.

Wonderful family vacation spot

Plenty of Space for Everyone

My family and I really enjoyed this stay. What struck me was how much room we had for everything. We hiked around the area, explored the creeks, and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I guess we did. The rec center was about twice as big as I expected with plenty to do. We had our kids 10 & 12 years old with us, this place was right up their alley. The creeks were full of really interesting rocks as well, but I'm not enough of a rockhounder to comment.

Cliff side Hideaway

The rooms were spacious and the main room was perfect for our group to gather to eat and relax. The property was fun to explore and we enjoyed the recreation center and pool. Perfect way to cool off from the heat. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.

Great Stay Away from the Hustle

We loved this location. Secluded location with a recreation center was the perfect setting for our group! The pool was perfect on a hot summer night and the hiking had some amazing views and wildlife. Billy was a great host!! We will definitely be returning.

This property was a complete paradise. The location was amazing. The landscape was a photographer's dream. With this Texas heat wave, it was great to be able to enjoy the beauty of the cliffside through every single room without having to step outside. You felt as if you were part of the landscape. I read reviews of people going and not wanting to leave. They were true. My whole family felt so at home and embraced by the beauty around us. I could honestly stay forever. The kids were never bored. There was so much to explore. The activity center was an amazing touch! Our family had two rentals in the area and I can honestly say this property was by far the best in the area! Bonus: The hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly!

Great getaway from city life!

We really enjoyed this place! The house had tons of space, was really clean, and the porch is just an amazing place to kick back and relax! I spent most of my time rock hounding and my husband and uncle took a short drive to the Llano river to enjoy the water. It has something for everybody! If you sit on the porch and listen closely, you can hear the axis “barking”. It was peaceful and serene, my only complaint is that I didn’t have enough time to spend here! The owner, Billy, has great communication and was very responsive to all my questions. Definitely will come back!

Wonderful Getaway weekend!

House was very clean & comfortable! Property is absolutely breathtaking. You will know you made the right choice as soon as you enter the gate! Billy was great and accommodating. If you are looking for beautiful views, privacy and rock hunting this is your place.
