Built in 1948 and recently updated to bring in modern-day comforts (smart TVs, electric fireplace and more) while still maintaining that old-world charm and comforts. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains you can enjoy the tranquil sounds of a babbling creek while sitting on the front porch sipping a cup of coffee or gazing at the night sky while sitting by a fire in the back patio area all this while just 10 minutes from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and 15 minutes away from downtown Murphy. Enjoy a day trip to Blue Ridge or Chattanooga, rafting, ziplining, or hiking in Nantahala and return to this cozy home for an evening of relaxation.

In the kitchen you’ll find it is well stocked with everything you need to make your favorite homemade comfort foods, or you can relax out on the back patio area while grilling your favorite meal. There is a coffee bar with your choice of a regular drip coffee or a K-cup maker. The  dining room area has a table for 4 or you can dine al fresco out back at the picnic table, enjoying the early evening light, the sounds of birds chirping, or watch the fireflies as dusk settles.

In the evenings, you and your friends or family might choose to gather around the fire pit – we are thinking maybe some s’mores are in order? Or you can all catch a movie – Netflix’s vast selection is available at your fingertips. If you can’t decide on which show to watch, there’s a second TV in the bedroom on the main floor with the Queen bed.

Bauernhaus sleeps up to six people, Main level has a comfortable Queen-size bed with a private full size bathroom and walk in dressing room/closet with a full length mirror, armoire and chair. The loft hosts another comfortable queen size bed along with a rolling rack for your clothes, a small workspace and a chair. The couch has a pullout sofa for extra guests or kids. The main level has a super cool half bath so not everyone has to use the one in the master bedroom. Beautiful coverlets along with fluffy duvets allow you to control your sleeping atmosphere. There is nothing better than a good nights sleep, right. Best of all,  you’ll enjoy the sounds of the rain on the metal roof from the front porch and the loft.

We love our dogs and know that you do too. We are dog friendly and have a small crate onsite – all pets must be crated while unsupervised.

Road Conditions: Low riding vehicles and motorcycles are not recommended. The road is paved all the way to the driveway which is gravel. Rear wheel cars may struggle.

Fun Fact: Bauernhaus is German for Farmhouse. The owners were married in Germany in 1998 while they were stationed there with the Army, and their last name is German in origin. They wanted something fun and different to name their slice of heaven other than Farmhouse, so Bauernhaus it is.

This is a pet friendly cabin and there is a $50 pet fee that will be added to your stay if you bring a pet. Please let us know your intention on bringing a pet in advanced.
