You roll into Manistee expecting small-town charm, maybe a fresh breeze off the lake, maybe even a little comfort after a long drive through the spine of Michigan. What you don’t expect is the smell of piss rising from your mattress like it’s trying to introduce itself.
First room—dead on arrival. One of the beds reeked like someone had lost a bet with a bladder. The kind of stench you don't forget. Front desk shrugs, hands over a new room key like this is just part of the game. No apology, no concern—just another day at the Baymont Casino of Bodily Fluids.
Second room? Bigger. That’s the good news. The bad news? It came with a broken toilet seat, a toilet that wouldn’t flush, and one that wouldn’t stop running. A full circus of plumbing problems. Call the front desk, and you're met with the kind of Midwest customer service that’s a mix of polite detachment and mild disbelief.
