We couldn’t even stay…
Firstly, we didn’t receive check-in information on the day of our arrival. That should have been our first clue something was off. After calling the host with no answer, we messaged him as we entered Manchester around 6:30 pm. He finally replied with instructions on how to enter apartment, nothing on where to park (essentially find what you can - may not be a big deal if you’re not driving). I proceeded to drop half the party at the building to take all our bags up while I proceeded to find parking. My party then calls me to say we can’t stay there because it literally looks like someone just left - dirty towels and linens, etc. So I call the host back, only for him to ask us to give him an hour so he can have someone clean. We go to find a restaurant. He calls while we’re gone to ask if we took the key from the mailbox. Um, yes? B/c our stuff is in the apartment. His cleaning person could only enter the apartment w/ that key! At that point, now close to 8:00 pm, I was over the inconvenience and asked for a refund. While he apologized (he was on holiday out of the country) profusely, it still doesn’t make up for the fact we had to scramble to find a hotel. It should not be the guest’s job to remind a host he has guests coming. I am very disappointed at how this ended up. I will be watching and waiting for a refund since he had to cancel due to his failures.
