Retreat to The Bear Den, a secluded tiny cabin in the Vermont woods ten minutes to Okemo. Soak in the private hot tub, unwind in the cedar sauna or gather around the oversized fire pit beneath glowing string lights.

Inside, warm natural wood walls, vaulted ceilings and carefully chosen details create an inviting escape. A custom spiral staircase leads to a unique loft sleeping area, while the living space features a comfortable sofa that converts to a bed, dining area, record player and Smart TV. The kitchen is equipped for morning coffee, breakfast before the mountain or a relaxed dinner at home. Heating, air conditioning and a washer and dryer provide year-round comfort. Just outside, an expansive private outdoor living space makes the cabin an ideal retreat for couples and small families looking to relax, reconnect and enjoy everything Vermont has to offer.

At the center of the cabin, a custom spiral staircase curves around a natural tree-trunk post and leads to the sleeping loft. Tucked beneath the sloped pine ceiling, the loft feels more like a private hideaway than a traditional bedroom.

Outside, the space opens into a large private living area surrounded by trees. The hot tub looks toward the woods and mountains, while the cedar sauna offers a quiet place to warm up and unwind. An oversized stone fire pit, Adirondack chairs, gas grill and outdoor dining table make it easy to spend the evening outside. Farther into the trees, a large hammock rests on its own wooden platform.

Once the string lights come on, the backyard takes on a different feeling. Dinner can linger around the outdoor table, the fire can become the evening’s entertainment and the only background noise may be the sounds of the woods.

The Bear Den changes with every season. Winter brings skiing and snowboarding at nearby Okemo, followed by time in the sauna and hot tub. Spring is quieter, with flowing waterfalls and the forest gradually returning to life. Summer offers hiking, swimming, paddling, golf and long evenings outdoors. In autumn, the mountains and country roads surrounding Ludlow fill with color.

You can spend your days exploring, but you do not have to. The cabin was also made for unhurried mornings, music on the record player, afternoons in the hammock and evenings with nowhere else to be.

When you want to venture out, Ludlow village is less than four miles away. The Hatchery is a local favorite for breakfast and brunch, Mojo Café serves casual burritos, tacos, bowls and po’boys, and Homestyle offers seasonal shared plates inspired by Vermont farms. Restaurant hours often change with the seasons, so checking ahead is recommended.

Beyond Okemo, the surrounding area offers hiking trails, quiet country roads, lakes and waterfalls. Buttermilk Falls is a popular local stop, while Lake Rescue and Echo Lake offer opportunities for swimming and paddling. Okemo State Forest, Plymouth Notch and the village of Weston are also within reach for a day of exploring.

Guests have private access to The Bear Den and the surrounding outdoor living area throughout their stay. This includes the cabin, hot tub, cedar sauna, oversized fire pit, hammock deck, grill, outdoor dining area and on-site parking.

Keyless entry allows you to arrive and settle in at your own pace. Your personal access code will become active at check-in and remain active until departure.


We want you to feel that The Bear Den is entirely your own during your stay, so we will give you plenty of privacy.

Self check-in makes arrival simple, but we are always available through the booking platform if you have questions, need local recommendations or require assistance. We will respond as quickly as possible.

Our service team may occasionally need to maintain the hot tub, remove snow or handle another outdoor service. When possible, we will let you know in advance and will always respect your privacy.

The sleeping loft is reached by a custom spiral staircase and has a low, sloped ceiling. Guests should be comfortable climbing stairs and ducking in parts of the loft. This layout may not be suitable for very young children or guests with limited mobility.

The Bear Den is surrounded by woods and wildlife. Deer, turkeys, insects and other woodland visitors are a natural part of the setting. Please never feed or approach animals, and keep food and trash secured.

Winter can bring snow, ice and changing road conditions. Please monitor the forecast and arrive in a vehicle appropriate for the conditions. Our team plows and maintains the driveway, but conditions may change quickly during active storms.

The hot tub and sauna are available year-round and are used at the guest’s own risk. The fire pit is weather-dependent and may not be used during local burn restrictions.
