Lucca is a beautiful city of art, rich in ancient palaces, numerous churches, squares and fascinating sights: Piazza San Michele, Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the Cathedral of San Martino, the Guinigi Tower and Via Fillungo, the city's main shopping street, all of which are definitely worth a visit. In the narrow streets you can discover old shops, characteristic boutiques, typical trattorias and excellent restaurants.

The numerous events that revolve around the city make it an ideal destination all year round. To name but a few: ‘Lucca Comics and Games’ for comic book lovers, the opera season in October-November, the concerts of religious and classical music in the city's churches from April to June, the ‘Settembre Lucchese’ with numerous cultural and folkloristic events, the summer festival in July and August as well as the many open-air markets and the important antiques market that takes place every third weekend of the month in the streets and squares of the historic centre.

From Lucca you can take day trips to Tuscany's most important cities of art such as Florence, Pisa and Siena, visit characteristic medieval villages in the countryside such as Montecarlo, go to the sea on the Versilia coast or to Livorno, Castiglioncello and the Cinque Terre or organise cycling and hiking tours after visiting the Ville Lucchesi, which are located within 6 km of the town.
