CABIN LIVING starts at the Gateway to the High Sierras in The Cabin House in the Forest!

This Spacious 2,500 sq. ft. 4 bedroom, 2 full bath multiple family lake and ski cabin sleeps 10 in comfort! The cabin House in the Forest is ONLY 5 min away from Pinecrest LAKE and 15 Minutes away to winter play at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort!

The cabin is located in Cold Springs, CA and sits at an elevation of 5,400 where you are at the top of the mountain and you will enjoy plenty of witnter wonderland snowfall. The Highway is kept plowed in the winter and the road to Dodge Ridge is privately plowed by Dodge Ridge to make sure you do not miss out on Ski days! We have location, location, LOCATION!

THE SPACE:
The living room has a stunning wall of windows letting in the natural light and boosts spectacular views of the grand Sierra Pines. It allows the outdoors to comes in. In the cooler evenings, light up a warm fire for those colder mountain nights! It is the perfect spot to relax and unwind in this "retreat" like getaway!!

THE KITCHEN:
For the cook, the open kitchen is filled with a lot of cooking tools, including a chefs favorite: a GAS Stove! There are full sized appliances and everything you would need to cook a special meal or bake some sweet treats!

There is a dining table with additional chairs nearby. Two guests can sit at bar seats on the island making this a perfect spot to grab a bite to eat as you cook! Dining Alfresco is always another choice, particularly during the fall months! Bon Appetit!

THE COFFEE BAR:
There are TWO coffee makers, one is a pot brew and the other is a Keurig Coffee maker. Bring your favorite K cup pods, we provide fresh coffee grounds. We store extra in the freezer too. There's tea and cocoa along with coffee condiments!

THE LOFT:
There's a video game Play Station console with a variety of video games and a DVD Player with loads of DVD's. The kids will enjoy their own private hangout spot with a spacious lounging couch and two built in twin beds.

THE BEDROOMS:
Relax in a spacious entry level bedroom with a king-sized bed.

There is a second entry level bedroom with a queen bed equally as relaxing.

The master ensuite is located downstairs and has its own separate exterior entrance. Enjoy a good night's rest on a comfortable king sized bed, with a spacious couch that pulls out to full sized sofa bed. Other amentities include a mini book library, a DVD player, a video game console, and a private deck with private exterior access. Enjoy sipping your coffee on your private deck in the mornings and gazing at the forest views on a table for two!

THE BATHROOMS:
There are two full bathrooms. One is on the entry level, and a second master ensuite downstairs.

THE INDOOR ENTERTAINMENT:
There are two large flat screen TVs and a Nintendo and PlayStation console, so you can get your game on! For book lovers, there is a "Free Little Library" at the cabin. "Need a book? Take one. Have a book? Leave one." Not only is it super cute, it has fascinating reading options. We have plenty of board games, puzzles, and playing cards, too!

OUTDOOR FUN:
We have plenty of outdoor entertainment, relax on the spacious deck, overlooking a forest ridge! There is a propane BBQ grill to cook up delicious BBQ! Currently, there's propane, but you may have to fill it if it runs out. There are refills a few minutes away at the gas station store. There are plenty of deck chairs, a patio table and umbrellas that you can move around. After enjoying the deck walk down to the forest floor where there's a horse shoe pit sure to bring your group loads of fun!

SPECIAL HOLIDAYS:
Thanksgiving time marks the official Ski Season. Dodge Ridge Ski Resort traditionally opens the weekend after Thanksgiving! We are only 15 minutes to Dodge Ridge Base Camp. Book Thanksgiving and be the first one to ski! All of course is dependant on the snowfall!

Christmas begins the first week of December if not sooner! Take a special drive to Historic Columbia who celebrates like no other town! Don't miss out, The candy store in the center of this preserved gold mining town. They gigantic homemade candy canes! Take home a candy cane wreath! It is a sight to see. It isn't Christmas without Chocolate Delights! They have them too!

Holiday's are special in our neck of the woods! BOOK EARLY! We have 100% Occupancy from mid December through New Years Day! Send an inquiry as we block our calendar from Mid December.

Don't forget, we accept early bookings for the upcoming 2026 Spring, and Summer stays too. We will allow you to make payments spread out over the months. If you need to reschedule after you booked, within a reasonable time frame, we will allow you to re-book different dates. If dates you desire are blocked, send an inquiry! We have flexible rental options too! If you love the area why not book one week a month for 2-6 months, or spend a workcation and experience mountain living! Send an inquiry for the special pricing for the longer stay options! Same day, and last min booking are okay!

Things to Note:

We keep wood in the garage for $10 for 8 pieces. Please don't take wood without paying. We use the money to replenish the wood for your convenience. Inform me at the end of the stay and you can pay directly on VRBO via credit card or you can Zelle. Please reach out to the host at the end of the stay to inform her how much you owe for replenishing the wood.

We only allow usage of the Washer and Dryer for 5 day stays or more. Please plan accordingly. If that is an issue, reach out to Renee.

During the winter we keep snow shovels in the garage and near the front entrance. We also keep ice melt if needed. Apply it ahead and let it sit so it has time to melt ice off the steps.

We have regular professional pest control, however it is the mountains where spiders and rodents live in the forest.

For emergencies, please notify me immediately even if it is late. We want to do our best to fix any issues that arise in a timely manner. We will keep in mind not to be disruptive to your vacation. We always want to retain the opportunity to handle issues as they arise and before checkout, if logical and possible.
