Peaceful Lakefront Cottage

Lacus Vitae is our family’s happy place and we want to make it yours as well! Here you’ll find a newly remodeled lakefront cottage that allows you to truly enjoy all that Lake Waccamaw has to offer. Lake Waccamaw is the largest of the natural Carolina Bay lakes with a perfect pH.
Our lakefront home is located 39 miles west of Wilmington and only 35 minutes off I-95. Lake Waccamaw State Park is 6 miles away where you will find trails to hike and learn about the plants and animals that are only found in or around the lake, the boat landing is a mile from the house and the pier is right out the backdoor where you can sip coffee as you watch a beautiful sunrise or sit back and relax. Let us make our home yours, take a vacation and relax.

Lake stay

This place is wonderful. The host is so nice and super quick to respond. The house is clean and comfortable and the lake is so quiet and relaxing. The swing on the dock is a dream. We look forward to this stay every summer.

Nice home but…

The home was nice, exactly like the pictures. Needs some attention with the electrical in the kitchen. Sometimes the light over the sink would come on and sometimes not. The ceiling fan in the kitchen rattled so bad I thought it was going to fall. One of the light switches in the kitchen came out of the wall when I unplugged the coffee maker. The lights in the laundry area worked intermittently. After being there a few days I figured out the fan over the stove was worked by a light switch at the door. There were no closets in the house to hang clothes and no furniture in the bedrooms to put clothes in. There were no lamps in the living room so if you wanted light after it got dark you had to have the ceiling light on. Something going on with the foundation as well because the house is slanted down towards the lake. The pictures were very accurate but there are issues that the pictures can’t show. I would not stay here again.

Weekend Getaway

Excellent stay !!! Everything about this place was great .. Peaceful and tranquil. Place was as described. Host communication great. Location was excellent. If you’re looking for a Lake Waccamaw getaway . This is it ! Lake access was east and the added bonus of seeing the alligators cruise the canal across the street .. A great Lake Waccamaw find.

Wonderful Getaway

My husband and I enjoyed our Anniversary stay. The home is lovely and homey. We weren't prepared for the alligators, but there were No Problems. Thank you to the Hostess and the friendly neighbors.

Repose At The Lake

This property was spectacular. It was perfect for what we needed: quiet, relaxing, bright, clean, and the calming view of the lake. Daniale our host was extremely responsive with any questions. The home is well stocked, and maintained. We loved it so much, we’ve rebooked an upcoming visit! The cleanliness of this wonderful cottage was well appreciated. Everything in working condition. We found it to be a very special experience. Our vehicle that we brought with us had broken down. It had to be towed. With everything we needed at the house, we were content to just hang out. Bob next door offered us use of his transportation. Wow!! Such incredible experience. Thank you to our host & and the amazing neighbors. Can’t wait to return!

Dreamy

What a sweet little cottage and stay at the lake. It was perfect for our family and our son loved the gentle waterline. The house had everything we needed and more, pictures really don’t tell the whole story, it’s so much more!

Always a pleasant stay!

This is our second stay here and we enjoyed as much as the first time. The owner is very responsive and friendly. Having easy access to the lake via a well-maintained pier is such a nice feature. Definitely a nice place to get away and relax

Great home on the lake!

Beautiful and serene

We love staying here. The lake is peaceful and the property is beautiful and clean. The dock is lovely and well-maintained. The swing is probably my favorite place, which works out well because the sunrises and the stars are incredible. The host is quick to reply and super nice.

Lake to Lake

My golfing buddy and I have homes on a lake in Upstate South Carolina. Every year we travel to the Coastal Plains region of southeastern North Carolina for a golfing vacation. Whiteville does not have an abundance of vacation rentals. A decent motel room in that area is hard to come by. We hit the jackpot when we found this Lakefront Cottage. It’s comfortable, peaceful, quiet and within close proximity to golf. This is the second time we stayed here and we plan to return in the fall.

A weekend getaway for a wedding

It was perfect, we didn’t want to leave! Relaxing lake house with kayaks, grill, etc. free for the guest to use. We ate at Dale’s seafood and Gwens diner, both were delicious! Excellent communication with host and cleanliness of house. Great place for a relaxing vacation. We will be coming back soon!

The Great Unwind!

This was the perfect place during a perfect time of year to unwind and relax. Spent 4 nights enjoying the tranquility and beauty of this lake cabin and property. Daniale was very accommodating and gracious knowing my ordeal with the Buffalo blizzard affecting my travel. Great location. True to pictures. Quiet pleasant neighbors. The lake dock and deck were a mesmerizing sight for coffee at sunrise and wine at sunset. Views made you smile all day long. Cabin is equipped wonderfully. We cooked 3 of 4 days. Smart TV took some texting with the owner to figure out (no 12 yr old on site to help us, ha!) But we did it. The bed was comfy although it felt like our feet were just slightly higher than our heads which was an odd sensation. The place is immaculate and well stocked. We will be back. This is a treasure and Daniale should be very proud of her listing and customer service.
