The Best Kept Secret in the Town of Duck
If you're looking for a vacation rental that's just steps to the beach in the quaint town of Duck, then Secret Spot is the place for you! This dog-friendly, semi-oceanfront home sits on the corner of a large lot with the beach access just feet away! The neighborhood beach path is right across the street so visitors will enjoy easy access to the ocean via a wooden walkway.

For easy unloading, a carport with plenty of parking space is located on the ground level. If you like summer cookouts, enjoy grilling up your fresh catch on the charcoal grill while you lounge in the nearby hammock. An extra fridge is available in the garage, making it easy to store frosty beverages for the beach. A washer and dryer are also located in the garage, making mid-week washes a breeze. When you come back to the house after spending the day in the sun and sand, rinse off in the outdoor shower located under the house.

Upstairs is where you will find all of the rooms this cottage offers. You'll love the instant coastal vibe with natural light and ocean decor. A cozy living area is situated around a flat-screen cable TV, where you'll love gathering around to watch your favorite movie. The kitchen comes stocked with everything you need to prepare delicious meals while you're in town. A dining table provides seating for 4, with 2 extra bar stools located nearby at the kitchen counter. Head out to the large furnished sun deck with your favorite book or an afternoon cup of coffee to relish in the warm ocean breeze, which offers a beautiful view of the Atlantic shoreline.

When it's time to retire for the night, rest easy in one of the three bedrooms of this tranquil cottage. A comfortable queen master features a TV and an attached full bath. There's also a second queen bedroom with a TV and a third bedroom with 2 twin beds and a TV that share a full-sized bathroom in the hallway.

Beach Access: A neighborhood beach path with a wooden walkway is directly across the street!

Sand, Sun and Plenty of Fun
Secret Spot couldn't possibly be a in better location. While getting to the ocean is a breeze, it's just as easy to walk or bike into town! Stroll the Duck Town Park Boardwalk for some afternoon shopping or witness amazing sunsets over the Currituck Sound. Choose between several excellent dining options to appease every appetite such as Duck Deli, Coastal Cravings, The Blue Point, and Sunset Ice Cream and Coffee. Local shops like Candy & Corks, Outer Banks Olive Oil Company and Gray's are a great way to spend a red flag day. Another fun alternative would be to drive up to Corolla and climb the Currituck Beach Lighthouse or take a safari-style tour of the wild horses. When you book a stay at Secret Spot, you'll have sand, sun, and plenty of fun, no matter how you choose to spend your day!

Hvad ligger i nærheden?

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Although its a pet friendly house, there was no odor at all. The location is fantastic. The house is directly across the street from beach access. It is a nice sort walk or 2 minute drive to Duck shops, boardwalk and restaurants. The house itself is small, but it is not crowded with too much stuff and the sitting area (living room) is comfortable for a group.The house does not have a dishwasher. There are no dishtowels or dish soap provided. Also, there are no screens, except for the front door. We were there in October and would have liked to open windows.

Excellent location but dated home with tired amenities. No dishwasher. Rusty kitchen utensils and dish drying rack, broken blender. The rug is stained throughout the house. The armchairs are dirty. No screens on windows, so we couldn't enjoy the evening breeze. Beds are not made when you arrive, and they left zero toiletries for the guests' convenience. No soap of any kind (no hand soap, shampoo, dish soap, detergent...). They only left a small package of dishwasher detergent (for a house that doesn't have a dishwasher). It was surprising that they removed any spices or kitchen essentials left by previous guests. The drain in the bathtub was clogged. We reached out to the management company but they didn't come to fix it. Some of the issues would have an easy fix, but this place is not kept up to Vrbo standards.

The house was very old and in poor shape. There was only one light in the living room, so impossible to read in the evening. We had an infestation of flies, but could not determine the source. There was no dishwasher, and those dishes that had been washed were not clean. The bathrooms were not clean.

Listening to the sound of the sea

What a great stay! We had an excellent first-time vacation in Duck staying at the Secret Spot! Such a great location!! I drank my coffee to the sound of the sea every morning and drank wine listening to the sea every night! The house was clean and comfortable. The walk to the beach was only 1 minute long! The house is also an 10 minute walk to the Duck boardwalk! And did I mention my dog had a great time! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

Enjoyed our stay very much. Well furnished and decorated. Kitchen had everything we needed.Wish we could have windows/slider open, but few screens. I'm sure some would have ac on and windows open.Biggest complaint: no hot water pressure!Inquired while we were there about availability in 2026, but didn't hear back.Thank you for a great vacation!Janet Cerilli

Secret Spot❤️

Cutest little house half a block from the beach right at the edge of the beach access walkway. The rooms are well appointed and the retro fixtues in the bathroom are very cute. The wraparound porch/deck is lovely and gets all of the morning sun. My pup was very comfortable. She spent most of her time laying on the deck watching the passersby. It was exactly what I needed. I’ll be back😊

Perfect Spot!

Great house in a perfect location! Our family of 4 and little dog had the best time ... very comfortable, right across from the boardwalk to the beach, well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds ... couldn't have been happier and would definitely return. Thank you so much!

Cute little house

We thought the house was in a great location, and very clean. We would totally stay there again... There were a few things that we wanted to note. 1 - it looks like the house used to have base board heat - most of the base boards have the covers off and you can see the coils - doesn't seem like the best idea (considering we had to stop our dog from getting in to them all the time). 2 - the Walls in the master bedroom have some paint off of them (wasn't sure if that was known). 3 - the fridge is loud and sounds like it's going to die... thought I'd mention it so a new one can be put in before the next occupants.

Spring Get Away

We enjoyed our stay at Secret Spot. It is clean and covers basic needs, but beyond that, it offers no frills. Unfortunately, it is an older house (avocado green and harvest gold bathroom fixtures), and it shows its age. All rooms are located on one floor, which makes it nice for someone who has a problem climbing stairs, and there is a nice L-shaped porch. It has great internet and nice TV with Roku (but there is no ability to watch local news and weather). As others mentioned, it does not have a dishwasher, and the washer/dryer are in the garage (no interior access to garage, accessed by going outdoors). Other than the above, the best thing about the house is its location. It is an easy walk to the beach and is close to shopping and restaurants in Duck.

It’s a roof over your head

Luckily, I only needed it for a couple days. It was the bare necessities, no dishwasher, no washer and dryer, rooms were small and bathrooms even smaller. The kitchen was old and in need of repair, the refrigerator is loud and kept us up all night. Location was the only saving grace, close to the beach.

Simple Beach Life

The location of this property is fantastic. Just steps to the sand. Its a typical older home with no frills. That’s perfect for our family as we go for the beach, not the frills. It’s listed as ocean view, but the ocean is not seen from the property. It was great having a washer and dryer on site. I do wish we had thought to bring a hamper with us. 😊 We will definitely stay here again!
