We like nice hotels and wanted to splurge a little while on a small road trip and opted for the Presidential King Suite with a separate bedroom, but with enough room in the living room for the kids. We had been traveling a few days, but were only a few hours from home, and intended to sleep in late and rest up. There was a little glitter on the couch and ottomans, but other than that the room was clean and comfortable. The issue arose in the early morning hours (7:30-8:00) with tremendous banging and oscillating multitool sawing from directly beneath our bedroom. It turns out the entire 3rd floor is currently under extensive renovations (the Presidential Suite is in the 4th). To make matters worse, the workers accidentally set off the fire alarm at around 8:00am. Needless to say, sleeping in was out of the question. I understand that renovations are sometimes needed, and the noise can’t be helped. The staff was gracious and kind. My only complaint, is that nowhere in the hotel booking information, was a disclaimer about current projects, and warning of potential interruptions. Neither was the price adjusted accordingly. So essentially, We paid well over $200 for 3 or 4 LESS hours of sleep than we intended (and NEEDED!) Again, the local staff was attentive and kind, but on checkout we were also informed that no reduction in rate would be possible since we booked and paid through a 3rd party (Expedia). All in all a very disappointing morning.
