Lydia's River Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

  • Lydia's River Cottage is open plan downstairs, fully central heated with a remote control living flame gas stove to provide a nice cosy focal point on cooler days. There is a 40 inch Smart Super HDTV and a DAB radio.

    The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, oven with ceramic hob above and a microwave oven.

    The rear door leads onto a large elevated riverside patio directly above the river Greta, which is private and has spectacular river views.Relaxed outdoor dining can be combined with wildlife viewing (binoculars supplied). Ducks, goldeneye, mergansers, herons, white throated dippers and grey wagtails are common and the rarer sightings include kingfishers and otters.

    Upstairs there are two pretty bedrooms - a double bedroom to the rear of the property which overlooks the river and a twin bedded room to the front with views towards Walla Crag.

    The modern shower room washbasin and toilet are upstairs, as the cottage has no bath the owners installed a large shower with choice of monsoon or normal showering.

    Parking for the cottage is private, off road and large enough for two cars.

    WiFi is complementary and unlimited approx 16Mbps.

Cute cottage. Nice to be next to the river and appreciated the designated parking spot. Would have liked a few more amenities like shower gel in the bathroom and paper towels and cooking oil in the kitchen.

Very comfortable stay

The cottage was very well equipped and one well behaved dog manageable. Too small for 4adults but for 4 nights it was ok. Beds were lovely and comfortable.

Amazing place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I am always hesitant to stay away from home due to cleanliness but the cottage was so lovely and clean. It had everything that we needed and was a short and lovely walk into the centre. The patio backs right onto the river which was such a lovely surprise. We stayed a couple of weeks before Christmas and the price was amazing.

Lovely cottage situated just far enough out of town with bus stops and a pub nearby. Very well equipped. Lovely outside area overlooking river which would be perfect for having a drink on a summer evening.

Well appointed cottage in a perfect location. Even Xmas decs provided. 10 min walk to Keswick. Only used our car once to grocery shop. Will book again. Definitely.

Fabulous weekend break

Fabulous weekend break in a spotless, cosy and modern cottage. Would definitely recommend staying here. Only a short walk into Keswick and there is a shop just opposite for any essentials. The sound of the river outside is so peaceful. Go ahead and book it!

Perfect 2 bedroom cottage

Lydia's River Cottage provided an excellent base in Keswick as it is easy to reach from the A66, quiet, cosy, very clean, well appointed and located by the Greta River. It has the convenience of off-road parking, and is an easy 15 minute walk into Keswick town centre, though there is a decent pub literally over the road from the cottage. I would happily return to Lydia's River Cottage and probably will.

A Happy Return.

Having been to Lydia's Cottage before we knew what to expect - a really comfortable holiday home, with high quality kitchen and bathroom fittings and a wonderful setting. The nearby Spar store and garage, plus the proximity to the town make it an ideal location for us.

Great location

Great location for walking in to Keswick town. Very comfortable and homely cottage. Although weather didn’t allow the outdoor patio area was lovely over looking the river. Smart tv was great so too the wood burner effect gas fire. Parking on the cottage’s driveway very convenient.

A perfect stay

We love the location of the cottage. Being on the river is so picturesque and perfect for morning coffees outside. The cottage is really comfortable and spotless. It had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Keswick is a lovely town with lots of beautiful walks nearby. Recommend Casa Bella and Bar Es for delicious meals.

Comfy, cosy cottage in a great location.

Lovely cosy cottage. Very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our much needed short break. Super comfy bed and slept so well - was glad of the rainy weather the first few mornings so we could enjoy a guilt free lie in and enjoy it for longer! Great location for walking into town and for the many walks in the area. The car was definitely not needed. Enjoyed cosy evenings in front of the fire with Netflix and the lights of the Christmas tree. Perfect place to recharge my batteries after a tough few months. We will be back.

A lovely cottage

We have been staying at Lydia's cottage for a lot of years at least once a year .we find it very handy for a walk to keswick centre also on the bus route to go out and about. It's wonderful to sit outside the stream running past and have breakfast. Cottage has everything you would need and the pub is directly opposite

Lovely cottage in great location

We enjoyed another week at Lydia’s Riverside Cottage. The house is quiet, clean, comfortable and warm and in an excellent location, being around a 10 minute walk into the town centre. Parking is a big bonus and with so many fantastic hikes from the town centre you don’t need to use your car. Highly recommended

Fab Cottage in the heart of Keswick

We stayed here for a week and had an amazing time.The cottage itself is fab.If was clean,spacious and modern and made for a perfect holiday for four people.The large living area was bright and cosy with a fully equipped kitchen that had everything you could wish for.Both bedrooms were great with a lovely bathroom too and the largest shower which was amazing.The raised riverside patio out the back was fab to sit out and soak up the sun watching the Heron and other wildlife.The location was great too with only a 15 walk in to the centre of Keswick and being opposite the Twa Dogs pub and Spar minimarket too. Having parking for 2 cars was a real bonus as well and being near all the major attractions of the Northern Lakes made this an amazing place to stay.We would highly recommend and will be back.

Beautiful cosy cottage

Wow! Such a warm and welcoming cottage. Ideal location on the edge of Keswick. Parking for 2 cars a added bonus. The cottage has a comfy home from home feel. Very well presented with quality fitting. Views from front and back glorious. Ideal for the 4 of us and being dog friendly was just what we wanted. I would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning again.

Well appointed

This is a lovely cottage by the river and a short walk to the town centre. The nearby garage shop is very close for anything you need. Everything we needed was there for us and the crockery etc was of a very high standard. The smart tv was handy and wall mounted. We couldn't get the gas fire to work but the central heating was more than warm enough. The bedrooms were comfortable and we used both as the river noise can get loud at night. Parking was easy and we left the car there from arrival to departure.

Lakes break in February

Cozy cottage, very well equipped for a couple or small family. Despite its location on the main road, it is set well back from the road and therefore quiet. Rear courtyard is set on the banks of River Greta. Beautiful. Parking at the front. Property is set just outside the centre of the town, 10-15 minute walk on the main road but a couple of minutes extra if you take the old railway line (accessed just behind the Shell garage) Convenience store on the garage forecourt was well stocked and had everything we needed. The only downside for the week was that our favourite restaurant Thyme was shut for February.

Long weekend break

We really enjoyed our break at Lydia's River Cottage the weather wasnt the best but we managed to get out for walks and a browse around Keswick shops, the Christmas lights are always so lovely! The cottage was very cosy and well equipped, we had a small issue with the gas fire which was dealt with very promptly by Michael the owner who very quickly resolved the problem he couldn't have been helpful and we enjoyed chatting about the cottage. The cottage is about a 10-15 walk into town along the road but there are also footpaths within easy reach which take you into the countryside and park, we would definitely return to this cottage as we felt it met all our expectations

Wonderful family cottage

We stayed during October half term. We were stunned by the beautiful wall of autumn colour from the rear of the house and the river is so lovely Great location if you want to distanced yourself from the centre. Only 15 mins by bike along the railway path into town with the kids (3 & 5 years). Road noise is loud but sound of river does balance it out. Newly refurbished and has everything you would need. Gas fire didn’t work. Beds really comfy but double is a small double - adults would be better in the twin room and kids share small double. Overall lovely little cottage, stunning river views and all the comforts you need. Definitely recommend!
