Spacious interiors, king bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and elegant living spaces make this the ultimate group getaway or Cumbrian escape.



The Space:

Ridgestone is extremely proud to bring you Richmond place, with it very own private spa, garden bar room and exceptional design, you will find Richmond Place nestled within a private historic Lake District mansion, this charming three-bedroom home offers a delightful and comfortable stay just outside the picturesque market town of Kendal. The original front entrance porch welcomes guests through double arched doors into the vestibule with black and white tile flooring and half-panelled walls, exuding character and charm.



Inside, the tastefully furnished space features three bedrooms, each adorned with a king bed, providing ample room for relaxation and a restful sleep. The living-dining area overlooks the meticulously maintained private lawn, gardens, and natural woodland area, creating a serene and tranquil ambiance.



The fully equipped kitchen boasts quality Corian worktops and integrated appliances, including an induction hob, cooker hood, dishwasher, oven, washing machine, fridge, freezer, and sink. Additionally, the kitchen offers seating for four and an array of essential items, such as an electric kettle, coffee machine, microwave, toaster, and various utensils commonly found in a well-stocked family home. For added convenience, the house is equipped with essential amenities like an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer.



The spacious dining-living area, adorned with fine oak panelling, ornate plaster detailing on the ceiling, oak floors, and leaded windows with oak mullions, is a principal room of the original residence. An attractive inglenook with a stone-carved fire surround and open grate enhances the room's charm. The cozy sofa is a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the Smart TV in the delightful wooden television cabinet or engage in board games. While a fireplace enhances the ambiance, please note that firewood and firelighters are not provided.



An easy, wide oak dogleg staircase leads to the generous first-floor landing, adorned with leaded windows on the half landing, adding to the character of the property.



The upstairs bedroom boasts a super comfy king bed, airy high ceilings, an en-suite dressing room with ample wardrobe space and shelving behind soft-closing sliding doors. The en-suite tiled wet room-style bathroom features a contemporary suite consisting of a stone wash bowl, toilet, and walk-in shower area with a multi-jet system.



On the main floor, two bedrooms await, each featuring a beautiful wooden king bed, a wardrobe, and drawers. One of the bedrooms boasts an en-suite tiled bathroom with a large corner shower and multi-head shower system, toilet, and modern vanity wash basin. The third bedroom also features a comfy king bed, beautiful wooden furniture, and access to a Jack and Jill-style bathroom between the kitchen and the bedroom, complete with both a bath and a separate shower for added convenience. A cozy lounge seat and a table for two by the high window offer a relaxing spot overlooking the garden while enjoying the in-room fireplace.



Guests staying at this luxury property have exclusive access to a private spa room, reserved solely for Richmond guests. This luxurious space includes a hot tub, sauna, shower, and its own fireplace; perfect for relaxing after a wander around Kendal or a long walk in the surrounding hills. The spa room is self-contained and not viewable from any other property. Frosted privacy glass on the doors ensures a completely secluded and peaceful experience.

Check-in is self-check-in via a pre-shared pin and instructions. We’ll send the lockbox code by text and email on the day of arrival.



Upon arrival, guests have full access to the house.



Guests also have exclusive access to the private spa room, which is reserved only for Richmond guests. This space includes a relaxing sauna and hot tub—perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure.



Guests are welcome to park on the premises without the need for a parking pass or prior notice. Please note that parking spaces are unassigned, so we kindly ask all guests to be considerate of others and mindful of the shared driveway access. Ample parking is available to the side and rear of the property, while noting that number 3 has a right of way to access their rear garage.

Getting Around:

Nestled within the scenic Lake District National Park, Bannel Head boasts a convenient and private location, easily accessible via the A590. This charming retreat offers seamless access to Kendal town centre, where you'll find an array of shopping facilities and transportation options, including the West Coast mainline connection and M6 Junction 36, just a short ten-minute drive away.



Oxenholme (Oxenholme Lake District) is the nearest train station, with the next nearest stations being Windermere and Grange-Over-Sands.



The Kendal Bus and Coach Station, the main bus hub for Kendal, can also be found at the Westmorland Shopping Centre located in town.



There are several reliable local taxi services available within the area.



Other Things to Note:

Please Note: Restoration work on the roof of this historic building has now been fully completed. As of November 2025, all scaffolding has been removed, and the property is completely scaffold-free. We’re delighted to share that the exterior restoration is finished, and the building is once again looking its best for guests to enjoy.



We cannot accept pets and respectfully ask that you leave your furry friends at home for your trip!

Overall, a good property in a beautiful location. A bit quirky in that a large house has been broken up into apartments so, for example, there is no ensuite bathroom in the very large front bedroom that used to be a living room or dining room. Communication with the owner's was generally poor with my questions just being ignored. That may be Vrbo's fault but it was annoying. There is a lack of attention to detail: the location of the lockbox for the key was difficult to find. A bit of effort on the part of the owner would fix this. I received a long email about how to manage the shower which is no longer relevant because those features have been replaced. Of course, when I enquired about this I received no response. But a lovely spot in a lovely area.

Stunning!

A wonderful place to stay for a Lake District break. Hugely spacious, everything finished to a high standard and extremely comfortable. Our only problem was thinking the key for the door was at the front when it was round the back but once we were in we were all hugely impressed. Many thanks for an enjoyable stay. We would like to return for a longer break next year.
