"I have rarely used exceptional to review a hotel but the Kames was. We travelled here from New Zealand on holiday and we only had one night but it was exceptional. The restaurant menu is top class, the range on the menu was great and seriously 10/10. I had locally free dived seared scallops from the loch, I had the slow roasted goat shank with lentils - exceptional, and we shared a lemon tart with fresh berries. I loved the Kames and I seriously recommend both the hotel and the restaurant. That...

"The Kames hotel is in fabulous location overlooking Bute and a great base for exploring. We spent a week here and still so much to see. The hotel is lovely blend of old and modern - rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable and well furnished. We are each night in the restaurant and enjoyed great variety of delicious meals . The owner and staff are warm, welcoming and friendly. Our dog was made welcome too! "

"We had a very good experience at Knockderry Country House Hotel - the staff was very welcoming, kind and extraordinary helpful. We had two cosy, spacious rooms with sea view - clean and neat. The restaurant was maybe a little pretentious - serving quite ordinary food with white gloves - but the quality was ok. "

"Tarbert is such a sweet little town. The castle ruins were magical. The hotel itself - very convenient, easy parking, incredibly nice and very hardworking staff. The meals were SUPERB! The room was in good condition. The bed was a bit on the soft and saggy side. Great view though over the water. Hallways are clearly under ongoing repairs. The dinner dining area is quite nice. Breakfast area could use a refresh (especially that first booth seat). Overall, the Anchor Hotel was a great 2 night...

"Only stayed for one night, while on our way to Islay, but Stonefield Castle offered a perfect combination of beautiful location, traditional Scottish castle atmosphere and modernized rooms. Very friendly staff and the restaurant served very well prepared dishes at reasonable prices. The view from the restaurant was spectacular (earlier in the day), but unfortunately dark when we had dinner :-) Wi-fi wasn't too stable, but we were not there for the wi-fi anyway."

"Had an overall great stay! Very clean and nice staff. The only thing that’s negative worth mentioning was that it took a very long time to get hot water in the shower and the tub. And after the hot water was running in the tub there was no way to get the cold water running. Except for this, a comfy bed and nice breakfast made this a nice stop along the way. "

"The hotel was class , looked dated , which i like , but the rooms were like wow , wouldn't expect going into a hotel which on the outside , and in the halls were like walking into the late 19th century the i went into a room a basic btw , and a beautiful mural of david bowie and just transformed it into modern, was such a wow factor , the staff were like family , we went to the pub about 3 mile away , and the boss was there , talking away as if we were family, ive never felt so like home but...
