"Highly recommend The Retreat hotel! It was gorgeous and the views breath taking. The staff was very attentive and kind. Will definitely go again. The tours were over priced though. ~400 per tour and while the locations were beautiful it was not worth that much money. Also note there is no food you can buy except for in the restaurants there. So grab some snack at the airport. But highly recommend this place. Even in the rainy season it was amazing "

"After a long flight from JFK, it was wonderful to experience this "hidden" gem with a nice courtyard close to SJO airport. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the owner taking time out to make us feel at home. Breakfasts under the shady trees were very appreciated. As a base for exploring Alajuela and the surrounding area, this place is strongly recommended. "

"Hotel owners, both husband and wife and their staff were really helpful and friendly. Property is really well maintained with diverse flowering plants and villa room we stayed in is very spacious and clean. Even though it is still the wet season, temperature was really pleasant and A/C wasn’t needed to sleep well. Very peaceful environment and walking distance to town square. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to getaway and relax."
