Urban Warehouse Retreat in West Hobart
Summary: Cool and contemporary warehouse conversion in the historic inner city suburb of West Hobart, just 1.5km from the CBD and Salamanca Place.
Sleeping 5 guests, the beautifully renovated and styled two bedroom apartment features a private open air courtyard, and is suited to a small family or couples getaway.
Close to all conveniences, the apartment is located next to a leafy park with playground and BBQs and just 5-10 minutes walk to North Hobart’s popular dining, bar and cultural precinct.
The Space: Character and style epitomise this spacious, high-end warehouse conversion. Sleek and modern while retaining iconic industrial features such as wooden and steel beams, and exposed brick to showcase the building’s past life.
Enter the two bedroom, two bathroom double-storey apartment via a front terrace into the open plan kitchen, living and dining space.
The polished concrete kitchen bench is a centrepiece, with new wooden floors, stunning light features and hand-picked art adorning the walls.
Fully equipped kitchen with all contemporary conveniences, with gas stove and oven, microwave and electric kettle.
Upstairs is the spacious master suite with king sized bed, and an additional single bed, suited to family guests. The space has been brought to life with attic style ceiling, sky lights that allow an abundance of light to stream in, beautiful ensuite, large walk-in robe and electric wall heater.
Downstairs, the second bedroom features a queen sized bed and walk-in robe, and opens to the private courtyard with sliding doors that fill one wall, offering lots of light and fresh air.
Main bathroom with a large shower is also downstairs and offers space and light for guests to enjoy.
Guests also have access to a carpark behind the building which is a valuable addition.
The apartment is next door to a family friendly park, with a new playground and BBQs for picnic lunch or dinners. An abundance of cafes and restaurants are nearby – try Smolt, Providence, Room for a Pony, Raincheck Lounge and Born in Brunswick. For coffee on the go, try Capulus and Wide Awake, both just 10 minutes walk.
Guest Access: Guests have full access and private use of the entire property.
The Neighborhood: Located in a quiet residential street, the apartment is one of just four in the converted warehouse. Just next to the residence is John Doggett Park, perfect for children and families to enjoy.
West Hobart is a picturesque suburb on the cusp of the city, with leafy tree-lined streets and period style homes.
Just a block away is the local favourite, Hill Street Grocer with gourmet deli, delicious fresh produce, artisan bakery, local wines and seafood. On daily strolls, stop in at Smolt Kitchen Café, a modern and eclectic eatery open for brunch and dinner.
North Hobart’s renowned restaurant and café precinct is just a 10 minute walk, where you’ll have a selection of some of Hobart’s best venues to choose from such as Ogee, Room for a Pony and Bar Wa Izakaya for Japanese.
It’s an easy 20 minute stroll to get into Hobart CBD, or an extra 5 minutes to the must-experience Salamanca Place and Hobart Waterfront. To stretch the legs, head to nearby Knocklofty Reserve for walks in the native bushland.
Getting Around: Metro Tasmania bus network has bus stops on nearby Arthur Street to take you into Hobart and surrounding areas. Getting to the property from Hobart airport is just 20 minutes by car. Jump on the ferry to MONA – the wharf is just 35 minutes walk or 7 minutes by car.
Taxis and Uber are also available, as well as Neuron and Beam Scooters to rent via apps.

Third party booking
The booking system didn't enable easy communication between the hosts - who were attentive - and the guests - who enjoyed their stay at the property - mentioning especially the comfort of the beds - as the booking had been made through a third party. Guests not having a direct line of communication was inefficient and -at times - frustrating. This is a comment about Stayz systems, not any of the people who I dealt with - they were all terrific.
