  • After being off the market for over a year for extensive renovations, this home is now newly remodeled and guest ready!

    Whether you are seeking adventure or looking to relax inside or out, this is the destination for you! Located and tucked away just west of Durango and at the base of the San Juan National Forest, you will be able to enjoy quiet privacy, the convenience of an easy drive to town, and endless trails just minutes away. Wake up to gorgeous views of the La Plata and the San Juan Mountains, inhale fresh mountain air, and enjoy your morning or evening beverage on the covered patio. While you're enjoying the views, keep an eye out for wildlife passing through the property!

    Aside from the entertainment of the surrounding areas, this home comes complete with all of the modern comforts needed to relax in style after full days of mountain adventure. Cozy up beside the warmth of the wood stove, indulge in a game of pool, or catch up on your favorite shows using the free WiFi and streaming capabilities of the TV. When mealtimes come around, the luxurious eat-in kitchen is outfitted with a stunning gas range, ample cookware, beautiful countertops, and modern cookware to make any recipe a breeze. Other highlights include plenty of seating around the dining table, high-speed internet, and a private washer and dryer.

Wonderful stay in Hesperus

We loved La Plata Canyon area. Such beautiful views of the mountains and open space. Very large house with everything we needed and more, very comfortable with terrific views. We hope to stay again.

Perfect location and big enough for 6!

This place was perfect situation, facing the mountain range off the road that leads into La Plata Canyon with multiple waterfalls within a few miles. This house was big enough to comfortably accommodate 6 people with lounge seating for everyone to decompress after long days of sight seeing and hiking. I would highly recommend this house as your home away from home.

Beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Internet was very spotty and streaming movies didn’t work but we didn’t come out here for technology so that didn’t really bother us. Teens loved the pool table. Easy to get to surrounding areas.

Perfect escape from life’s complications

We rented this property based upon the views and weren’t disappointed. Our views were snow covered but just as incredible. WiFi password we were given was just a little off and my Verizon Wireless phone didn’t work. Other reviews mentioned loud refrigerator and it was loud. The master is upstairs which means super views similar to living room. Loved this space. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again

Durango Family Getaway

The property was in a great location and an easy drive to Durango or any locations around Mesa Verde. We opened the windows and it got chilly at night even though it was very warm during the day. It was quiet and the views are amazing. The curtain in the upstairs bathroom is a little thin so be careful not to give the neighbors too much of a view! The only issue we had was the front door lock was difficult to operate.

Very clean, kitchen came very well supplied and was beautiful with plenty counterspace and very large table. Mountain views were amazing. Open living room with lots of windows. Very private. Wildlife. TV and Wifi were accessable. Some furniture in LR needs replacing. Sleep accomodations very comfortable. Property is not handicapp accessible. Could use grab bars in showers. My husband did not shower for this reason. All in all a very pleasant stay . Thankyou!

Views for miles!

We enjoyed our stay in Hesperus Hideaway, conveniently located just 15 minutes from Durango. We enjoyed spending time sitting on the porch and in the living room drinking up the unbelievable stunning views of the La Plata Mountains. The house was conveniently located to many scenic areas and to all the touristy things in and around Durango. The house was clean, comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked. There are no window coverings for the upstairs master bath, and we felt exposed since one window faced the street and the other faced the neighbor's house. The beds were average, not very comfortable. We could not find the grill, but ended up broiling our meat in the oven and it turned out great! Despite those things, we would recommend this getaway and would definitely stay there again!

Nicely located home with a serious fly problem

The view was lovely and the home was ideally located between both Durango and Mesa Verde/Cortez. However, upon arriving, the entire upstairs, and one bedroom in particular (including bedding) was covered with dead flies. This was quite disgusting and took time to clean, making me wonder how recently the property has been cleaned. When contacted about the cleanliness of the house upon our arrival, the response to this information was minimal. We were told it would be shared with the local team, but we never heard anything further. Live flies continued to be an issue as well, and it seems at minimum a fly trap and possibly extermination is needed. This unfortunately put a real damper on what would have otherwise been a nice home.

Great Family Fun

This house is spacious and 17-20 minutes from Durango. Very clean and has beautiful surroundings. The kitchen is well stocked, and the pool table was a hit with my boys. Bedding was comfortable, but no frills. The internet can be spotty. Only a few cons: The nest is automatic and password protected so the heat kept coming on at night when unnecessary, all bedrooms are in desperate need of blackout curtains unless you like getting up at sunrise. The master bath would also benefit from some sort of privacy curtains as you can see in from evening to night. Sorry neighbors and folks driving on the road! I also felt another layer of security would be nice, an additional lock on the doors would be good. (There is a baseball bat behind the master door.) This home is quite secluded, but the restaurant at the end of the road Cafe Kennebec was delicious. I would recommend this house.

This home was perfect for our family of six. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The home is set in a secluded location yet it was very convenient to both Durango and Mesa Verde. We would definitely stay there again.

"Far from the madding crowd"

We really liked this peaceful place, tucked away at the foot of the mountains. Most of the time, all you could hear was the fresh mountain breeze coming through the windows. The house was spacious, clean and airy with wonderful views through all the windows. We were able to take advantage of the close-by hiking trails and also paddle boarding and kayaking at Lake Nighthorse which was only about 20 minutes drive, We would like to come back in the winter, as Hesperus ski-slopes are minutes away and the Purgatory ski resort is only 45 minutes drive. All in all, a great experience. We would highly recommend!

Excellent Stay at Hesperus Hideaway!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay. Only 15 minutes from downtown Durango, we were tucked away in a quiet area called La Plata Canyon and surrounded by beautiful mountains with amazing views. The house was clean and cozy. The surrounding area was quiet and offered an refreshing breeze in the evening with the windows open. There is also a *stellar* view of the stars in the night sky. One day we decided to adventure further down the road and found a little campground and river where we went fishing and exploring throughout the national forest. Nighthorse Lake was about 20 minutes away and was a great destination for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, etc. We are also planning to come back in the winter since the Hesperus Ski Area is only 5 minutes away.

PERFECT PLACE! PERFECT LOCATION!

A lovely property in a great location. The amenities were excellent with plenty of room for 6. The property is designed for mountain views. I could have sat for hours to watch the sunrise and gaze at the mountains. The location is perfect! It was so peaceful and private- but still an easy 10-15 minute drive to Durango. The San Juan National Forest is 200 yards down the road where the outdoor activities are limitless. What more could you want! I will definitely rent this property next time I am in Durango. Highly recommend!!!
