Runners, Bikers, and Trail Riders:

Hop on the Gravel Pit Road trailhead just 0.5 miles from the door for direct access to 300+ miles of CAMBA mountain biking, ATV, and running trails.

Fishing:

McClain Lake connects via channel to Upper Twin Lake (Class A musky water), or cast right off the dock for bass and panfish.

Swimming:

*McClain is best for floating and relaxing—not sandy-bottom swimming.
*Lily pad provided for fun off the dock

Boating:
*Public boat landing 4 minutes away.
*McClain is no-wake, but the channel takes you to Upper Twin (wake allowed 11am–5pm).
*Hungry? Pull up to Black Iron Grill via boat!
*10% off pontoon rentals with a local partner

ATV/UTV/Snowmobile Friendly:

*All roads in town are ATV routes unless marked otherwise.
*The trailhead is at the end of our road.
*There's room for 2 trailers, and the shared roundabout makes maneuvering easy.

Parking:

*Summer: 6+ vehicles
*Winter: 5 vehicles
*Steep driveway, 4WD recommended in winter, and please exercise caution during the spring melt/thaw cycles

FAQs:

Is the dock good for boats?
Yes, it’s about 4-5ft deep at the end and 22 ft long.

What about bugs?
We treat regularly to limit spiders, ticks, and mosquitoes—though it’s still the Northwoods.

Is the grill gas or charcoal?
We provide a Blackstone gas griddle (shared with the cottage next door).

✅ This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security hold of $1500 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction). As an optional alternative to the security hold, you may opt in to purchase a non-refundable damage waiver provided by a third-party insurance company. The optional damage waiver is $49 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $2 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. Damage waiver purchases are optional.
