The host met me when I arrived later, and my room was comfortable. I went and sat in the front room for a bit in the evening, and the host came out to turn on the gas fireplace for me. "There was no one at the desk. Self check in via the hotel email. Room was on 2nd floor up two flights of winding stairs not easy to maneuver with luggage. Limited food at the hotel. Did have free parking. Very old building not handicap accessible. Room was a good size and comfortable. Bathroom was very small couldn’t open the door all the way. Not recommended for older people or anyone who can’t do stairs."

"Hut was well stocked with all the stuff you need. Great hot water & pressure in shower. Clean, cozy & comfortable beds. Host was very friendly and helpful. Loved our wood fired hot tub. Just be careful with the water level once you start adding people!"

"Very friendly rooms above pub slap bang in the main street. Pretty laid back and jiust came and went as we pleased. Cat and all the staff were very friendly and helpful to us. Bar was great for a few drinks and the town is great with friendly people everywhere. Big bonus was Vale of Leithen won :-)"

"I very much enjoyed my stay at the Abbey Residence. The highlight of it all is of course the people. Hosts insisted on doing anything in their power to make your stay exceptional. All the advice on how to plan the stay and sightseeing in Edinburgh or in other areas made the experience much more easier and relaxed and very comfortable. It's not like it's ideal place on Earth, it's close to one of the main streets in the area so if you're sensitive to noise just remember your earplugs. I very much hope to be back sooner than later. Thanks for the lovely time!"
"Ankom sent aften hvor vi mødte en venlig receptionist. Skalle være der i 4 dage vi var to par afsted. De første to dage fik vi ikke gjort rent på værelset. Morgenmaden buffet var næsten tomt da vi kom kl 8 første dag blev det ikke fyldt op på buffen. I weekenden lukker spaen kl 20.00, spaen består af en meget kold pool. Vi er vant til at bo på Merriot men første gang vi har oplevet så dårlig/lidt morgenmads buffe, samt dårlig rengøring samt ham pool manden der var i spa området virkede som om han ikke gad være der"
"Very pleasant hotel with kind and friendly service staff as well as some nice facilities. It is located basically inside the Edinburgh University campus, which we really liked and close to the old town of Edinburgh.
Only downside was the breakfast buffet situation where there was not enough seats for everyone - regardless of which time slot you went down for breakfast. It is supposed to be a good and relaxing start to your day, but it ended up being quite a nuisance instead.
