"The location for us was good, the room was clean, and what I expected, outside the room was already little dirty and not kept up well. Lots of cigarette butts on the back steps and other flooring in the hallways was not kept up as well as it could’ve been. Price was good! Would have liked a little more variety of food at breakfast and maybe some other options for drinks at breakfast as well."

"Historic hotel with friendly service in the Des Moines downtown district. Short walk to sculpture garden. River walk and Capitol with in 1.5 miles. Hotel is clean, well run and has some historic charm. Still a slightly upmarket bare bones place no flowers etc. Attached Hob Nobs restaurant has good coffee and a good ala cart menu. Good for omnivores and vegetarians may not vegan so much. "
