Winterplace Ski in Ski Out Condos 3Br/2Ba 3rd floor sleeps 8

Winterhaven Condos are located on the right side of Winterplace Ski Resort, at the top of Highland Run, Last Run and at the bottom of Last Chance ski run. The condominiums are minutes off of I-77 for easy access. The condo is located on the third floor of the complex and has amazing views off its private deck! THERE IS NO POOL AT THIS CONDO COMPLEX even though VRBO says that there is one.

Highland Run is down the steps - put on your ski's and go! Walk to other side of the condos for access to the "Last Chance" run! The views from the balcony, which are accessible from the Master bedroom and the living room, are beautiful! The bedrooms are on opposite ends of the unit with the bunk bed room/mud room being in the middle. The master bedroom has a private bath and the other bath is near the bunk bed room and other room. The kitchen is equipped with all amenities that you would need to cook a full meal. The living room has a large sectional, queen size futon, Smart TV, and a fireplace.

The road to the condos is gravel and up a hill which is maintained by Winterplace Ski Resort. Sometimes heavy rains cause ruts in the road. If you are not driving a truck, low clearance vehicles will need to be very careful coming up the hill to the condos from Winterplace Ski Resort's main parking area. In the winter, you may need a four wheel drive or all wheel drive to get up the hill.

About 30 to 35 minutes away are Beckley, for shopping/dining/movie theaters AND New River for Whitewater rafting! About 15 minutes away is Glade Springs Golf Resort for golfing and spa treatments! About 5 minutes down the hill, SKyline Lodge has a pub and grill, outside area overlooking the water & music (check their website for dates/times).

This is clearly a ski destination, so not the best for a summer stay. It’s at the top of the small ski mountain and the dirt road up the mountain had a lot of ruts from the rain. The owner did give us a heads up about the road last minute. The only ac is a single mini split in the living room….the one had fans in each room, so it was ok….but it was a hot week and not ideal. There appears to be electric baseboard heat for the winter so I am sure it’s nice and cozy. The listing shows 3 bedroom, but it’s really a 2 bedroom place. There is a mud room by the front door and there are 2 bunk beds there…but it’s next to the front door…not idea for a bedroom. They did have a set of bot warmers for the winter. There were tvs in every room including the mudroom. Internet signal was very weak, but it mostly worked. Kitchen and living room were excellent. Very comfortable and lots of room and apliances, etc. master bedroom was tight and the bed was a bit hard. 2nd bedroom had a great bed and lots of room.Overall, a nice place…but not ideal for the summer.

We have never stayed on the mountain until this year! It’s so much easier than having to drag your stuff everyday into the lodge. The place was so nice & “homely”! It has a beautiful view!

Overall we had a wonderful stay. You can’t really beat the ski-in/ski-out feature of this condo! It is just so convenient and perfect. The place was clean. The carpet was the only thing I feel like has seen better days. . . The only thing my children had an issue with was the fact that the bunk beds are in the entryway so it doesn’t really feel like a bedroom and one of my children refused to sleep there because the front door was right there. That is obviously a personal problem but I didn’t really get that from the listing so I wish I knew so we could prepare for that. Also, people walk by that room so it can be loud. But like I said, overall a great stay and experience at Winterplace.

We had a multi-week August rental. The resort is closed during the summer (which we expected) so the area in and around the mountain was quiet. But the temperature at 3200 feet was very pleasant. The unit itself looks exactly as pictured, and the owners were terrific. Communication was excellent, and checking in was a breeze. The unit is fully set up for either a short or longer term stay. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Winterplace area, I definitely recommend this rental.

This property description says there is a "private gated pool" and a bidet. We were extremely disappointed when we tried to go for a swim and discovered there is NO POOL! Neither bathroom had a bidet either. One of the "bedrooms" was basically the condos entryway that happened to have bunk beds. The remote for one of the bedroom tvs didnt work. The property is described as a resort...it has more of the feel of a very old motel on top of a mountain.

We had a great visit and really enjoyed the ski in/ski out aspect. So fun for the kids! Kitchen was stocked w everything we could need for a home cooked meal after a day on the slopes!

Very clean and nice condo. Only complaint is the driveway to the condo needs some major help which the owner can’t do anything about. The HOA needs to do there part! But would recommend this condo to others

The Condo was comfortable and clean, but we were disappointed that the faucet in the tub in the hall bathroom had no water. The kitchen was very nice. The beds were comfy. We won't be able to stay there again, though because of the walk up 32 steps to reach the third floor. An elevator would have been nice. The hostess was very good at communicating. All in all, it was fine.

This condo was perfect for a few members of our family to stay while attending our family reunion. We had a well stocked kitchen for food prep so we could bring our dishes to the reunion, comfy and clean space to relax in the evenings, and close to the family camp. We will be back!

Our family really enjoyed the stay at this condo. Host is very friendly and responded fast to all questions. We initially had a hot water issue which was fixed promptly (a knob was turned off due to off season). Host even reimbursed some money back for the same. The condo is well maintained, and clean. It has WiFi and dryer. There is a laundry area one floor down. Definitely recommend this condo.

Upon arrival the condo was very clean and well maintained. A cozy fireplace and couch lent themselves to very peaceful quiet evenings. My mama lives up the road, and this was the perfect place for us to be close, but have a bit of space. Thank you Valerie!

Perfect ski-in, ski-out location at Winterplace. Condo is furnished nicely with all the amenities you could think of. Good communication, easy access, painless transaction, and loads of fun with family!
