We had a wonderful stay! The property was beautiful and exactly as described—peaceful, private, and the perfect escape from the city. The house was very well stocked with everything we needed for both cooking and entertainment. The hosts were extremely responsive and accommodating, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again!

The property was kept in very good condition. The house is beautiful and was very welcoming. Check-in was very easy with instructions that were provided by the host. The kitchen had everything we could think of. Only suggestion would be to have candles for the deck to help with the hornets at flies.

The addition of a hot tub was a delightful bonus, especially after a day of biking or hiking. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need during your stay.Nestled near Elk Island National Park, the location is ideal for a tranquil escape, equipped with all the essentials for a memorable getaway. The owners were incredibly accommodating, promptly addressing all our inquiries before and during our stay, including even the most specific questions about the area. The checkin process was extremely straightforward and all details provided well in advance of our arrival. I wholeheartedly recommend this cabin to family and friends and look forward to returning in the near future.

The pictures don’t do it justice. This place was amazing! Comfortable and clean. Spacious and luxurious. Tranquil and serene The host was really nice and prompt at replying to any questions we had. Even accommodating to any requests we had. Our group are already planning our next visit there asap

Beautiful, relaxing cabin with a wonderful view of the lights

We stayed at the cabin for 2 days and wished we could stay longer! It was absolutely perfect and had everything we needed for a perfect, relaxing end to our week in Alberta. We also had a lovely view of the Northern Lights!! I could even see them from the well positioned beds. I would stay here again in a second, only I'll stay longer next time

Wonderful Family Getaway

We came together as a family to celebrate our Mother’s birthday and it was beautiful and peaceful and just what we all needed. The kitchen was perfect for preparing our family meals and so many beautiful spaces for us to spend time together! Beautiful place to stay!!

A Writing Retreat Haven

Our stay at the Barrel House was unbelievable! Such a gorgeous rural setting in the boreal forest. The historical home is lovely and unique. The interior decorating is tasteful and thoughtful in every way. Absolutely loved our stay and definitely coming back!

A beautiful retreat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and well appointed home. We had our adult children with us and it was very spacious and the property allowed for many areas to all relax and visit together. The host was great with communications and the property was just as lovely as it appeared on the website. A delightful stay overall!

Great relaxing retreat on the edge of town!

The property was fantastic. Unique secluded cabin feel with high end upgrades. Beautiful decks, outdoor space and firepits. The kitchen was stocked with utensils, pots, pans and anything else you could imagine including barware right down to a moscow mule set.

The very best weekend!

I don’t think I will find another spot to top this girls birthday weekend! The kitchen was well equipped, beds comfy, lots of seating both inside and out and the hot tub was fantastic. It was a quiet and peaceful weekend of playing cards, chilling and food.

Nice Getaway, but We Had Some Issues

We were very excited to get away from the hustle & bustle of the city and our demanding jobs. Overall, it’s a beautiful cabin, with many lovely upgrades, but we were disappointed in a few things. Before the trip even started, we had to ask three times for the instructions on how to enter the property (passcode for the door). The first request was a couple days before our arrival, as the instructions say, and twice on the day of our arrival. A little nerve wracking when we our 10 minutes away from the cabin, it’s an hour or so past the checkin time of 3:30pm, and at approx 4:30pm we had finally got the instructions. On day 2, had an ant infestation that took up 1 of my 3 vacation days killing and sweeping them, which didn’t prove to be relaxing at all. The owners were excellent to respond and get ant traps & spray for us, but it took a lot of time for the ants to die and go away. The cabin has rules posted just about everywhere you turn, and the owners also send the same rules with the passcode for door. This is not relaxing… to open a beside table drawer, and to see the rules posted in there too! Like you state in the rules, if something is damaged or missing, it’ll be taken out on the primary’s credit card, which is completely understandable in rental situations. We found the outdoor furniture was in rough shape, and not clean. Overall we didn’t see the value for the price we paid.

Dreamy Retreat

This is my DREAM HOUSE nestled in a wooded area just a quick half hour from downtown Edmonton. We were close enough to get everything we needed but still enjoy the peace and seclusion of a ‘vacation hideaway.’ The house was beautiful, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the host was friendly and accommodating for all our special requests/needs. Super comfortable beds, luxurious bathroom/shower, hot tub, fire pit, just an overall dreamy stay. Would 10/10 recommend this house and this host to anyone looking to stay in the area. Wish I could live there year-round!
