The area and Edmonton downtown in general is vacant and the homelessness is all around, as a grown man it was uncomfortable walking 4 blocks to circle K.
Parking is an outdoor surface lot (maybe 20 covered stalls available) but I found no stalls after 4pm on a Friday and had to park at an adjacent impark lot.
Staff were unresponsive, I had to call for a new bed sheet twice as my bedsheet had what looked like oil or food stains on them. After the second call at 9pm I did not think it was coming and was getting ready to sleep in my salad dressing sheets when someone finally arrived with a sheet. I changed the sheet myself.
I have stayed at the matrix hotel in the past years ago and do not remember the area to be as run down and the hotel to be as disappointing as it was this time. I am back in Edmonton next month and won’t be staying again.
