Veranda Suite w/ Jacuzzi & Sauna

The historic home of shipping and grain baron George G. Barnum was built in 1910. The home was built large enough to showcase art collected by Mr Barnum as he traveled the world, and accommodate the friends he acquired along his storied lifetime. With an eye on the historical features of both the house and man, this one of a kind location has undergone a dramatic transformation to become a luxury boutique hotel. The GG Barnum combines its rustic Northern Minnesota history with modern amenities for an authentic and unforgettable stay in the Zennith City. Situated on a dead-end street adjoining Oregon Creek in the quiet Congdon mansion neighborhood, The GG Barnum Boutique Hotel is equally suited for business or pleasure.

The Veranda Suite of the GG Barnum Mansion is located on the second level, this is a beautifully moody room with dark walls and an oversized leather chair that makes you want to spend your time in Duluth indoors. This suite boasts a state of the art Samsung Picture Frame SmartTV that displays beautiful works of art, a jetted bathtub and separate shower. The room includes a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, and access to Netflix.

Venture out of your private space and enjoy the shared living areas, grab a game for some play time, pull a book from our custom built book shelf for a little down time, or just spend quality time with your traveling companion. The living and dining areas feature a beautiful grand piano, large dining space, and plenty of places to sit and relax. Our favorite spot, and one of the more remarkable areas of the home, is the three season, impeccably decorated, enclosed porch, make sure to spend a little time here (this is a 3 season space and is not heated in the winter months). There are so many beautiful spaces for you to enjoy you may just find yourselves staying in for your vacation.

Enjoy the benefits of our newest addition added January 2024, a custom built Heritage Cedar Sauna. Located in our backyard this Barrel Sauna can fit up to 4 people.

This property is intended for adult getaways, no persons under the age of 16 are permitted. Our guest service team is available by phone from 8am to 9pm if you have any questions or need anything. Our direct contact information will be provided with your booking confirmation. The primary form of communication, including check in information, will be through the booking platform and/or email. You will receive your check in information at 3pm on your arrival date. Check in is at 4pm. Check out is 10am.

This is not a 'party house'. Price listed is subject to change.

VACATION RENTAL HOUSE RULES

1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS a) All Guests (and any Visitors) must comply with all House Rules and any other instructions from the Property Manager during their stay; and b) Guests must notify the Property Manager of any disputes or complaints from neighbors as soon as reasonably practicable.

2. NOISE AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD a) This Vacation Rental is NOT suitable for children under the age of 16. b) Guests and Visitors must keep noise to a minimum as not to disturb the occupants of neighboring properties and rooms – especially during nighttime hours (10pm – 8am), and upon arrival and departure; c) Excessive noise is prohibited at all times and may result in termination of the vacation rental agreement, eviction, loss of rental paid and extra charges which may be deducted from the Security Deposit;

3. VISITORS a) Guests are allowed a maximum of 2 visitors at any time during their stay. b) Guests are responsible for ensuring maximum visitor numbers are not exceeded; and that visitors are complicit with these House Rules.

4. FUNCTIONS a) Parties and large gatherings of any kind are strictly prohibited at the Vacation Rental; and b) Any small gathering must comply with other rules set regarding Noise, the Neighborhood and Visitor numbers.

5. PARKING a) Guests and any visitors are to comply with parking regulations and other requirements set out below and show consideration to neighbors and other vehicles; please use the designated parking area, up the driveway along the right side of the house to the back of the property.

6. SECURITY a) Any time Guests leave the Vacation Rental, it is their responsibility to ensure all windows and doors are closed/locked to maintain security and prevent rain and water damage. b) Guests must switch off the lights, air conditioning, fans, electronics such as televisions when not in use to promote energy saving.

7. SMOKING a) Smoking is not permitted inside the Vacation Rental or on the private deck attached to the room; b) Smoking is permitted in the back parking lot next to the garage; c) Cigarette butts must be disposed of properly (in large trash cans located outside property or off property all together) and not thrown on property grounds. Failure to do so will result in a deduction from the security deposit.

8. PETS a) Pets are NOT permitted at the Vacation Rental;

9. DAMAGES AND BREAKAGES a) All Damages and Breakages must be reported to the Property Manager as soon as reasonably practicable. Failure to report them will likely result in a penalty deduction from the security deposit. And; b) To avoid Damages and Breakages, no furniture is to be moved from one room to another without prior agreement.

10. CHECK OUT ARRANGEMENTS a) Please be sure to lock all doors. Check out is at 10am - if you need a later checkout please contact me as soon as possible to make arrangements.

11. EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS: a) In the event of an emergency relating to the Vacation Rental, your emergency contact is: Heirloom Vacation Rentals (218)409-4885 b) In the event of all other emergencies please call 911.

12. COMPLIANCE a) Breach of any of these House Rules is a breach of the Terms and Conditions of occupancy as per the Rental Agreement. b) The Owner and Manager reserve the right to terminate permission to occupy and to evict from the Vacation Rental, any Guests or Visitors who refuse to follow these House Rules or who cause a nuisance to neighbors or other residents of the community.

What better way to experience Duluth than to immerse yourself in one of its historic buildings for your visit. It does a wonderful job at preserving the historic features while including modern amenities - a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city while still maintaining a short distance to all of your favorite places. The entire process was simple and first-time VRBO user friendly! Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our room in this well curated Mansion. My wife was impressed with the furnishings. The only issue we had was the bed. It was very firm and hard. I would recommend that it be replaced with a more plush mattress. We did enjoy our 3 night stay and found the location to be very convenient and secure. Very quiet street.

Heirloom called 1 hr prior to check in to greet us. Then called us just prior to check in to let us know our room in an old "mansion" was not available due to issues with the a/c and that they would not have parts to fix in the near term. They did provide an "upgrade" - an apartment 10 mins away. However, neighborhood was quite depressed with A LOT of garbage littering the properties on the street where you enter the property. The upgraded apartment was akin to my daughter's current college housing with an over used and stained tub/bathroom. Kitchen counter tops and appliances were discount grade and heavily used. View of the harbor was not as much of a selling point as Heirloom would have liked. Looking closer at VRBO, the other apartments in this complex have been upgraded to be much nicer and I would have been happy for the change if I had gotten one of the other units in this complex. The "upgrade" just wasn't equivalent to what we booked from a monetary stand point and appeared to be in a potentially unsafe neighborhood. The person we dealt with from Heirloom was curtious and her manager did refund our money as did VRBO for processing fees. We ended up getting the last room at a chain hotel by Canel Park. Not likely to try Heirloom again. The sell of the "upgrade" was telling of their culture & customer service.
