"Lovely hotel, right next to the entrance to Alnwick Castle. The hotel itself is lovely, with helpful and friendly staff, lovely rooms (exactly as described on their website), nice relaxing bar. the perfect place for a weekend getaway. We were there for two nights and decided to eat in the restaurant on our second evening. The food was delicious. My wife and I shared the Chateaubriand and it was cooked perfectly. "Suggest Hotels.com stop cooperation w the Schrooner Hotel! The rate was outrageously high compared to the very, very low standards in cleaning and service and general poor state of the hotel. No signs on room numbers, had to insist on being shown the way to our rooms. Doors were difficult to open/close. Bed linen and bathrooms were clean but everything else was literally dusty and greasy. "Grand old building , room clean and tidy , excellent night’s sleep . Breakfast good loved the timed sit down . Significant problem in that to ensure right mix of tables, all through the meal tables were being dismantled rolled out to a storage room and others replaced and set .
