We had a wonderful stay! The views from the house were absolutely beautiful, and we especially enjoyed spending time on the back deck, taking in the breeze and watching the stars at night—the sky was incredibly clear and the stars were stunning. One evening, we even got to watch a storm roll across the distance, which was such a unique and memorable experience. The beds were very comfortable, and the whole place felt peaceful and secluded. Thanks to the recent rain, the vegetation was lush and the cenizo (sage) was in bloom, which made the surroundings even more picturesque. As it’s such a natural setting, we did come across a few very large spiders inside the house and the deck. It definitely added to the “remote Texas” experience and wasn’t really a big issue for us, but something to be aware of for anyone who’s particularly squeamish.Kelly was a fantastic host—super responsive and so kind to share helpful recommendations for things in the area. The home is about an hour and a half from the Del Norte entrance of Devils River State Natural Area, which was a highlight of our trip.Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for quiet, natural beauty and a comfortable place to unwind with a fantastic view.
