"If you're looking to get away to quiet serenity then this is a lovely place. It is removed from easy access to activities in the area, other than the outdoor sculpture park, which is EXTREMELY worth a visit, but it was a beautiful location to spend a peaceful break in the midst of the big cities on our itinerary. "Our stay at Hakone Suisen was wonderful. The hospitality and warmth of the staff made us feel genuinely cared for. They have a well-managed indoor and outdoor onsen. Their breakfast service is also lovely. At checkout, a kind staff member even drove our luggage to the train station, going above and beyond. We would love to return. "

Breakfast Buffet wasn’t in our taste, and didn’t seem very delicious. Few western choice that tasted well, but a lot of options if you are into the Japanese breakfast style.

"Amazing, old ryokan very close to Gora Station. Nice and welcoming staff. It was my first time at ryokan, and what an experience! I enjoyed the private onsen with a view over the mountains. There was rain and thunder, which made it very dramatic, and in the end there was a rainbow.
The room was spacious, had basic amenities. Green tea, which was switched to a fresh pot after dinner and breakfast, while they also made my bed and put it away again. So smooth.

"Vi havde kun en enkelt overnatning i et traditionelt japansk værelse. Det er et rigtigt fint hotel (rent og pænt)! Der var rigtig god service i receptionen hvor receptionisterne var rigtigt venlige og hjælpsomme!

"The room was wonderful!! Very relaxing even though there is a road under the hotel. Remember there is no staff at the hotel and no restaurants near by. So you need to think about breakfast and dinner. We used the local 7/11 and Gora is only one station away. Had an amazing massage in the evening. "

The futons were nice though, but the open air hot spring is not open air. It is just a tub that does not get emptied after use - and it is not outdoor. There is no way to get fresh air into the room, since the only window is facing the "open air bath", so you get all the most humid air right back into the room, and the tub is so noisy, we couldn't even sleep with the window open. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, and the walls had dirty stains on them as well - to pricy to be this filthy. We had breakfast and dinner included, and they did switch the menu on night number two, but is was traditional Japanese cuisine, and did not quite fall into out taste, but it looked like the locals enjoyed it. And there was way too much food. We did not have a chance to try the public onsen, since we have tattoos, so I can say if it was good or bad. The staff was nice, and even though they did not speak English well (some of them not at all) we managed to communicate, and they did a great job. I don't think I will recommend this place to other people."
