Great summer get away for the whole family (including doggies)!Room for everyone and fun on the pontoon! What I especially liked was that it’s a private lake with no public access and not over populated. Hardly anyone out, so it was super peaceful.

The only issue we had was we could not connect to internet, but soon forgot about that due to all the home had to offer. The fairy garden was a wonderful addition to the kids play area. My grand daughter carried one of the fairies around all weekend. Thankyou

Excellent family retreat

Wonderful property for generational gatherings. This is our second time for a long Memorial weekend and it felt like coming home this year. Fishing, boating or just enjoying the view, it is perfect.

Summer stay

Loved having the pontoon boat and the pedal boat. The dogs had a great time. Everyone had their own bedroom.Daughter said her sheets on her bed were wonderful. Had a great time

Excellent Stay

We loved the property. The lake was wonderful for fishing. Having the pontoon available was super. Larry was very responsive to our questions. The house is very interesting.

Velvet Lake

The lake home is roomy. The fish were biting. Close to Cross Lake and Mt biking.

Velvet Springs

We had a wonderful weekend with extended family. The property was beautiful and just as described in the listing. Having the pontoon and paddle boats made it even better. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderfully eclectic home!

Great stay for a family weekend!

We had the best time here! It perfectly slept 4 couples, my niece and our dogs. We had a great time hanging out in the beautiful yard, swimming in the lake and catching fish off the dock. It was also awesome how close it was to so many great spots in crosslake. Larry was easy to communicate with as well. Definitely recommend!

Family Fun!

We had a great time! The house was very clean and was exactly as listed. Great location … the lake was beautiful. Larry was very responsive to our calls - and Heidi (the dog) was a joy to be around! Having the pontoon boat and paddle boat at the property was awesome! Would definitely return.

Great place for family stay

We enjoyed the house and the lake very much. It was quiet and peaceful. The house had lots of space inside and outside for the family. The only issue I had was with dog allergies in the house.

Labor day week with family 2024

Wonderful lake view, having the pontoon was great to get out on the water and enjoy nature; my chocolate lab mix had a blast roaming around chasing her tennis balls. The landscaping on the property is beautiful, we were kept in supply of firewood for bonfires every night! The Farmhouse itself is very eclectic, quirky, and beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Larry was a very very welcoming host. We will definitely be back.

A breath of the north.

Amazing time! Kids developed an itch for fishing after countless pan fish were caught. The accommodations were as expected and we were all very happy. 3 dogs ran themselves tired dodging in and out of the woods and water. 10/10 would like to experience it in January!

Velvet victorian

Quiet, relaxing. Private lake with many fish. Dishwasher did not get dishes clean. Otherwise all the amenities you could want.

Lake get away

Very spacious and well equipped home. The garage space for cars and fully gassed comfortable pontoon were very nice touches. The furnishings were whimsical and “antiquey.” The out door patio space was wonderful and separate fire pit area very nice also. The showers and bathrooms could use more soaps and hair products but otherwise adequate. Host communication was excellent and responsive. Thank you for a great stay.

Family gathering

Outdoor space was great. Plenty of room to set up a volleyball court in the front yard. The lake side yard had two patios, one was perfect for meals and lounging, one had a fire pit. We set up a two tier croquet court,hung 4 two person hammocks, and still plenty of beach area. The dock and pontoon were great and probably the best paddle boat, appeared to be homemade.

Hated to Leave

An awesome place for our annual family summer vacation. We were a group of 8, 4 adults, 4 kids (ages 10-6) + 2 dogs. Beautiful well-equipped home with lots to look at and gorgeous lake. Kids had a blast fishing, swimming, playing games, eating s’mores around the fire pit. House was very clean with plenty of a/c and fans. Nearby Cross Lake has a big grocery store with enough of the vegetarian and gluten free options we needed. We hope we can come again!

Family Vacation

The house was very clean and nicely decorated. We loved the patio where we hung out a lot. The playground was neglected and broken swings. It was great to have the pontoon until the motor stopped our last day. Larry was there and tried to fix it. It was fun running about the lake with the paddle boat. Overall we had a good time. Thanks Larry for sharing your home with us.

Lots of space in the house. 3 bedrooms upstairs and one down in the walk out basement. Unfortunately, the mildew/musty smell was very strong. I wouldn't have been able to sleep down there, my daughter and son in-law used the room. The gates didn't fit the stairs, but the two year old managed it well enough without it. No hot tub. We were able to open the door at the bottom of the basement steps and that's where the foosh ball table was. Washing machine and dishwasher were not working, but we made the best of it. The pontoon was a huge hit as was the fishing off the dock. So much fun and laughter catching numerous sunny along with bass, catfish and a bluegill. Allowing the dog to be with us was great. There were plenty of towels and beach towels. Our 4 year old and 2 year old enjoyed the plastic swing set. I loved the extra room in the on suite with the day bed. Beautiful view of the lake, very relaxing. It's a rustic old farm house with radiator heating and window air conditioning. Over all, we enjoyed our stay.

Great Getaway

The property was just as described. Use of the pontoon was a highlight of the trip. Tons of fish to catch off the dock and even more off the pontoon. Great swimming on the middle of the lake. Lots of breakable Nick-Nacks but was easily able to put them up higher where the toddlers couldn’t reach. Larry was extremely responsive to any issues or concerns. Only downside is that a realtor and huge family stopped by and wanted to tour the house during our stay - we declined because it felt like an invasion of privacy since our stuff was scattered everywhere. The garage door was opened and if we didn’t have the dogs in the house they might have done it anyways since they said they saw us on the pontoon but we were on our way back. Only recommendation would be to have an updated TV in the basement for movies on rainy days - the TV/VCR wouldn’t work properly. Also, the outdoor grill is older and the heat source isn’t very strong if you plan on grilling anything outside. Loved the stay otherwise!

Kids paradise

The home was just as the pictures showed! The kitchen was easy to cook in, dishwasher great, fridge is large top fridge over freezer. No ice; we bought ice cube trays at DG in town. The eat in area was roomy, we folded the beautiful table clothes up and set them aside~ We appreciated fans in each bedroom! The landscape on the lakeside was perfect for the grandkids to play on their own, peddle boat, and swim! We brought a kayak, also rented some in town, and had our own SUP…the pontoon is like an old crest we had owned in Michigan so we knew how to get her to start and did take a ride in! There were plenty of beach towels in the utility room cabinets for us too. The fishing off the end of the dock was amazing!!! BIG sunfish, bass and even baby walleye! Having a clothesline to hang wet suits, towels and life jackets on was so helpful too. We appreciated the wood for an outdoor fire, and making s’mores! The porch area and seating outside was delightful too. Our only wish would have been for a TV that worked. We had a few rainy periods that the game playing was exhausted and we’d hoped to watch a movie together…We were able to piece together cables to get the basement DVR to work, but it was in B/W. Our only other problem we solved was covering a few windows for sleeping~We did use towels and foil! Thanks for sharing your property with our family! We were refreshed from city life!
