    Contrada Sant'Elia is a spacious apartment just outside the historic center of Como. Centrally located, this apartment is close to the two main train stations in Como, supermarkets, bars, shops, and other services you may need. From this apartment, you can reach the lake and the pier in just a few minutes on foot. Additionally, the apartment is tastefully furnished and very bright, making it a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

    This apartment can accommodate up to 6 people. It features one bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with two single bunk beds, a large living room with a double sofa bed, a modern fully equipped kitchen, and two full bathrooms, one with a bathtub and one with a shower. To ensure additional comfort, the apartment is equipped with air conditioning in the 2 bedrooms, TV, and free Wi-Fi.

    For those arriving by train, the apartment is very convenient, being just a few minutes' walk from both the San Giovanni and Lago train stations.

    SURROUNDINGS

    The apartment is just outside the historic center—a highly serviced area close to both major Como train stations, supermarkets, bars, ice cream shops, and stores, as well as churches and historic buildings. During the summer season, the streets are busy throughout the day, while they are less crowded in winter.

    GETTING AROUND

    The main points of interest, the lake, and the train stations are easily reachable on foot from the apartment. In the city of Como and the neighboring towns, ASF bus services are available; tickets can be purchased on the bus (cash only) or at authorized points (the bus station in Piazza Matteotti in Como, bars, and tobacconists). Taxi services are also available.

    From the pier, ferries reach Cernobbio, Torno, Bellagio, Varenna, Colico, and other locations along the lake. Please note that during high season, there may be long lines at the ticket office before boarding. Tickets can also be purchased online on the Navigazione Laghi website.

    From the San Giovanni train station in Como, you can regularly reach Milan's Central Station and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno), while from the Como Nord Lago station, you can reach Milan's Cadorna station.

    The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. Shuttle services to and from the airports can be easily arranged for an additional fee.     TIPS

    We recommend dedicating a day to visiting the wonderful towns around the lake. Como is the urban center of the area, but the towns are gems with splendid lakeside villas.

    To get around and walk along Lake Como, especially in the small towns, it's essential to wear comfortable shoes.

    There are many public fountains with potable water in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also drinkable. You can bring your refillable bottle!

    If you're looking for a relatively easy hike in the area while still enjoying mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow trail that connects the lake towns from Colonno to Griante and doesn't require too much uphill walking. A bus will take you to the starting point in Colonno.

    Look for traditional restaurants where you can taste local foods, such as dishes based on Lake Como fish.

    In Italy, many shops (especially smaller ones) and services close at midday, so be sure to plan your shopping accordingly.

    Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dive into the water, however, there are some options. In Como, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is strongly discouraged and mostly forbidden. There are beaches in other locations along the lake. A nice little beach can be found in Careno, but it may be crowded on weekends. Locals and visitors also love going to Nesso, where the more adventurous can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

    The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach of San Giovanni await those who want to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio, located at the center of the two branches of Lake Como.

    Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding Pre-Alps may not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay close attention to weather conditions during hikes and bring warm and waterproof clothing!

Check in from HELL

Arrived , and stood in street with our luggage until someone arrived after a endless wait. My wife and I and adult son were given one key. This caused a logistical night mare and we wasted a day and a half of our 3 night stay making arrangements to make sure someone was at apartment to let each other in. (should get some refund to make up for lost time). Apartment furnished in early IKEA. Surly apartment superintendent. Almost came to blows. Only good thing was location. Another example of corporate Takeover of VRBO.
