Sisters weekend
What a spectacular home to spend the weekend with my sisters. Close to town. This house had such character, it took us 20 minutes just to go through the house and appreciate every detail of the structure and woodwork. The doors were a conversation in itself. Enjoyed the view from the hot tub. We were surprised there was no hand railing on the steep staircase to the upstairs. Would highly recommend this home. I am already looking for a reason to go back and share the experience of this home all over again.

We had a wonderful stay!
Our stay was great. Easy check-in and out, great communication from owner. Reading other reviews, yes It was tricky to get to but the owner provided clear directions on how to find it so it wasn't a problem. Internet is slower (50Mps) so if you're looking to work from there, beware that speed is limited. Otherwise, it was exactly as I expected and had everything we needed.

Great for family or wedding - not for us older folks!
Beautiful old home that has been well maintained and updated by owners! Chippewa Falls is a VERY friendly community! 1. Take your shoes off - a bench or chair in the entry way would have been helpful. There is room for it. 2. Watch those stairs - NO handrails upstairs or down to basement. 3. Maybe we missed instructions (don't follow your car GPS) - entrance is not on High Street, we eventually found a helpful neighbor that directed us to the alley Finally, the neighborhood is quiet, quaint and charming - I wish we had known some of the quarks before hand. Excellent property!

Thank you for staying at our home. We will move the bench in the basement up to the hallway. Thank you for the suggestion. There was a map in your welcome information, however there was a lot in there, so I can understand it could have been missed. We lived there for 20 years and the pizza delivery person always had trouble. The front of our house is on a hill (which gives us the great view of the city, but certainly difficult to find our hidden gem). Thank you for all the feedback. It is important to us. We are so glad you found Chippewa Falls to be friendly. We love it here. Thanks again for staying at our home.

Weekend getaway
Our stay was great! The house was clean and well kept. The patio was a nice place to hang out. Location is close to downtown and we were able to rent bikes and ride around town. Hot tub was fun! Owner was extremely responsive and made our stay very welcoming!

Hidden Gem
This property is a hidden historical gem just steps from the Heyde Center. Lovely historical property with a gorgeous deck overlooking downtown CF. And did I mention the hot tub? Highly recommend!

So much charm!
We stayed 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. This is a very old home that is filled with so much charm! The owners clearly take pride in the place - it was clean and had very high quality furniture. One thing to be aware of - pics show a bunk bed but there is not one. Otherwise- it’s actually better in real life than the photos. We will definitely stay again!

Fabulous Home

birthday get away
we had a wonderful time at your house. it is quite charming. Our whole group loved the oldtime appeal and all the doors. It is very well maintained and clean. The location is close to everything. It was a little difficult to get to driveway, we just did a google overview map and figured out the alleyway. Loved using the hot tub and patio especially when it was chilly outside. I do agree with a few other comments from previous renters about the lack of curtains and possibly having a few extra blankets around would be nice too. We could not get the upstairs fireplace to work but did find an extra blanket in the closet for the birthday girl. Shy of that we would definitely come back again for another girls weekend.

Wonderful old house with lots of character
We loved the house. It was spacious, cute, comfortable, well cared for, and within walking distance of the pubs and shops in town. The brewery is a little further away, but still walkable from the house. We were there in the fall with another couple and spent a lot of time outside on the deck enjoying the view of town while the leaves rained down on us. In addition to the deck outside, the view can be enjoyed from the porch and the brick patio, as well as inside from the picture windows in the living room and sitting room, and from the 3 big windows in the 2nd floor master bedroom. It was a wonderful place to spend a fall weekend. However, as other guests have noted, the windows in the first-floor bedroom, the smaller bedrooms upstairs, and both bathrooms do not have full-length window coverings. There are privacy shades in the master bedroom on 4 of the 7 windows (the 4 windows that face the neighbors' houses), but in the other bedrooms that face the neighbors' houses, as well as in both bathrooms which have a window facing a neighbor's house, there are only cafe curtains and valances. Although the window treatments are cute, they do not offer complete privacy. We would have felt a lot more comfortable changing clothes, sleeping, showering, and using the bathroom if the other bedrooms and both bathrooms had full-length curtains, blinds, or shades. The only other issue we had was that we did not receive the 9-page rental agreement until 8:45am on the morning of check-in - when we were already on the road and unable to print, scan, or initial and sign the contract as requested. It was a very detailed contract and we spent half an hour of our vacation time that morning stopped on the road to read through all of the rules and policies. We talked to the owner on the phone about it and messaged her that we agreed to all of the terms and conditions, and were able to check in without incident. However, guests should be sent rental contracts at least 14-30 days prior to check-in (which is typical of other properties that we've stayed at) and not at the last minute on the day of check-in. Overall, the house was lovely and cozy, and perfect for our needs. Both of the owners were pleasant and welcoming, and responded to our questions. If it weren't for the two issues noted above, we would give the property 5 stars.

Charming property with lovely view overlooking Chippewa Falls. However, kitchen had minimal dishes, ie, no serving dishes. Microwave and dishwasher were in inconvenient place. Bedrooms had no blinds. Although it was mid-October there was only sheet and bedspread on bed-no blanket.

Thanks for staying at our property Maureen, we will stick some additional blankets. The microwave and dishwasher were installed in a pantry to maintain the historic integrity of the kitchen and there weren’t other options for a home of this age. My apologies for the inconvenience. The kitchen is fully stocked with dinner wear, drink wear and cookware. We will stock the kitchen with more serving dishes for future guests. Thank you for letting us know this is something you would have liked. As for the curtains, as you know, we do have them on all bedroom windows where people can see in. However, we do love light and for 20 years we only had curtains where people could see in, the side of the home with the view does not have blinds on the windows. We will need to reconsider this for future guests. Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. We truly appreciate it.

Great house and location
Lovely house with lots of space and excellent location ! Walking distance into downtown Chip Falls & Leinie’s. Loved sitting outside on the deck and enjoying the peacefulness and view. Only issue we had was none of us were able to connect to the Wi-Fi. We weren’t able to get the tv to connect either. Not a big deal for us as we were just enjoying our time together but it may be frustrating for those who rely on it. Overall a wonderful experience.

Wonderful stay!
Wonderful property within walking distance from restaurants, bars, and the Leinie’s brewery. Plenty of beds and A/C in every room. We were on a motorcycle trip and it was wonderful to be able to use the garage! Our only “concern” was it was a bit challenging to locate as the property has to be accessed by the alley from the back and we drove around a bit to find it. Otherwise it was great! Used the hot tub and deck. There’s even an eagle’s nest nearby!

Chippewa Falls get away
The house is perched on a bluff overlooking Chippewa Falls and is walkable to all sorts of restaurants, bars, and other activities. The house is the nice kind of old with beautiful woodwork and built-ins. Lots of places to gather in and outside with plenty of seating. The kitchen was fairly well equipped and we were able to pull off a few big breakfasts. The view from the deck is lovely and the sunsets don’t disappoint.

Perfect home away from home

The Uncut Diamond is a Gem
We stayed at the Uncut Diamond for a weekend family reunion and it was great! The only problem, we didn’t have enough time. We were very pleased the property has a no shoes policy, as we had a infant that is crawling and felt comfortable letting him explore. The property had everything we needed to have a fun weekend with family.

Good location and outdoor area, could use some updates and isn’t for everyone
We stayed here for 9 nights with 3 adults and 1 infant while visiting family that lives in Chippewa. This house was in a great location just a quick walk to downtown, the park, the farmers market, and the leinie’s lodge. It was also very clean and stocked with things we needed in the kitchen. A few things could use updating though, for example the towels were pretty ratty and the quilt in the main bedroom has holes all over it. There are also no curtains in two of the upstairs bedrooms or in the bathroom which looks directly into someone else’s house (if you’re standing at the sink you’re visible from the waist up…) I wouldn’t recommend this house for more than 2 couples (one could have 2 kids) max. We were only able to get the door closed and latched on 1 out of 3 rooms upstairs and the downstairs bedroom has a very small bed and a shower that you have to sit down to use (you could probably stand up if they installed a tension shower curtain rod and a shower curtain but there isn’t currently one). I also wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who has difficulty getting around as the stairs to the upstairs rooms lack a handrail and can be a bit slippery when you aren’t wearing shoes (which you are not allowed to do in the house). We had some difficulty communicating with the owners who were not responsive to our VRBO messages sent a few weeks before our arrival about whether they had a pack n play for our baby (they do not) though they did respond quickly when we finally texted them instead. Finally, the internet wasn’t great and kept cutting out which wasn’t an issue for us but may be for others. Overall the location was good and the house had some charming features, but some small updates could make it much better. We come to Chippewa every summer and will probably opt for a different property next time.

Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The quilt is very clean as it has been washed many times in the last 3 years. We will heed your advice and get a new quilt immediately for our next guests. I did miss your message about the pack and play. I could not find one to borrow for you. I am sorry you had to travel with your own. The home is 130 years old and the door knobs are original and need skeleton keys to lock. We have kept the original door knobs to keep the historic integrity of the house. I am sorry they did not stay closed. I believe we have advertised that we have one full shower and one cast iron bath tub with a handheld faucet, but I will confirm so that there is no confusion for future guests. The house has a window in the bath tub as many homes in this era did, so a shower isn’t an option or the window would rot. We are terribly sorry you did not enjoy your stay at our home. This is our first review that wasn’t a 5 Star, so it is certainly disheartening and will will do all we can to do better in the future. Sincerely, The Kristas

Uncut Diamond April 2022
We had a really nice stay at this property! The weather wasn’t great so we ended up spending more time at the house than we planned. My son enjoyed exploring all the rooms and opening/closing the half door in the porch about 100 times! We enjoyed seeing a bald eagle perched in the tree next door. The only (minor) issue was that the cookware wasn’t in great shape, combined with the fact that there is no vent for the stove - this led to the smoke detectors going off when we used the stove. And one warning for people over six feet tall - there is only one small shower and you will not clear the light inside! I am six feet and just barely had enough clearance to use the shower. Otherwise it was a very unique and fun property for a weekend away. Thank you!

Super tranquil.
Perfect for girls weekend away. We loved the old character of the house and the view of the city was beautiful. Love to come back in the warmer weather to enjoy the deck.

Was an excellent place to spend Christmas.
My parents, brother, and I stayed at the Uncut Diamond while in Chippewa visiting my grandmother for Christmas. It was the perfect place where the four of us could have her over, relax in comfort, and enjoy great views of downtown. The hosts were very quick to respond to a small maintenance problem on Christmas day and were very accommodating. The family room is a cozy place to put your feet up and relax by the fire while watching the snow fall.

Home for the Holidays
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Uncut Diamond. The house was very cozy and looked just like the online advertisement. It's central location makes it convenient to everything in CF, and the views of downtown and the Christmas lights was beautiful.

Can stay, uncut diamond for family
We had a wonderful stay at the uncut diamond! We enjoyed the nostalgia of this vintage home and the view was spectacular. Communication was very awesome with the owners and we felt we had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend stay. Rules, instructions, and cleanliness were very very appreciated. Thank you so much we would stay here again!
