Located on the coast of scenic Cedar Lake, this stunning 5-bedroom lakehouse loft is the perfect getaway just 40 minutes from downtown Chicago. The loft offers ample space for groups, with sleeping accommodations that include 2 king-sized beds, 1 queen-sized bed, and 2 sets of bunk beds, making it ideal for families and friends.

The property features two cozy indoor lounges including a TV for couch-surfing, perfect for relaxation, alongside three outdoor seating areas where you can unwind while soaking in the lake views. A fire pit adds to the outdoor charm, making it the perfect spot for late-night conversations or roasting marshmallows under the stars.

One of the highlights of this property is its direct backyard access to the lake, complete with a pier that stretches over the water (available in summer months). From the backyard, you’re just steps away from peaceful lake views and a wealth of water activities. You can also walk to the nearby Marina, where you can rent kayaks, waterboats, and prepare for a host of exciting lake adventures.

Inside, enjoy fun-filled entertainment with an air hockey table and an indoor pop-a-shot basketball station. For those who prefer quieter moments, the house is equipped with modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a fully equipped kitchen, stocked with all the essentials like an oven, microwave, rice cooker, a coffeemaker and more.

The main floor is only accessible through a flight of stairs. The main entrance comes into the lower floor. We can only accommodate 3 cars outside and 1 smaller car in the garage. All cars must stay within the property and not go past the mailbox into the neighbors.

It’s hard to tell when you first pull up to the house, but the inside is absolutely beautiful! The two main bedrooms were very posh and we loved the sun room and watching sunrises from the back of the house. The fenced in yard was perfect for our pup, and we felt very much at home. We had a wide range of ages and everyone agreed it was great! The older kids enjoyed the basement games, and we felt comfortable letting our toddler run around with the gated stairs. The basement bunk beds in the boys room were a little wobbly, so we avoided letting any of the kids sleep on the top bunk. All of the other beds were very comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to have more towels available for guests. We ended up using the washer/dryer so we could keep reusing the ones provided, but the dryer took a really long time to get them dry. We definitely would love to return during the summer season and would stay again in a heartbeat!

We had to come into town on short notice for a death in the family and needed a place with plenty of space fot my elderly parents, my sister and myself. This was a wonderful and very comfortable house and property. Very clean and plenty of amenities. We also really enjoyed the firepit and lake view. It was a great place to relax and visit with family members after a stressful day. I would definitely recommend the property.

The home was beautiful and felt very new, up-to-date and modern. The home, as well as the location, were lovely and peaceful. We were in the area for a wedding and had other family members in another VRBO. We were all able to come together (apprx 16 of us) at this home for hamburgers on the grill and to sit back, relax and enjoy marshmallows over the firepit later in the evening.

This was a great place on the lake!! We stayed for World Series with another family. The beds were super comfortable, which was huge for me:)The kids enjoyed air hockey, basketball, and the lake. So much for the kids to do, they were never bored.. that’s for sure!! I do wish the kitchen had more pans, silverware, etc but overall we had a wonderful time and made some great memories!!

Great stay and the host communicated well. House was great and the boys loved jumping off the dock. The host left ice cream for the boys and made it feel like home. The only down fall which is out of the host control is the neighbors. We had a little cook out with the team one night at 5 and the neighbor counts the people coming into the house and wasn’t pleasant. Besides that this house is great!

Cedar lake

The house was perfect for our group, plenty of room for all of us spread out. And altho it was too hot for a bonfire we enjoyed the seating around the fire pit which looked out over the lake. The host was awesome! She responded quickly to my texts and did all she could to make us comfortable in her home. The home was very clean and comfortable. There are several flights of stairs which could be an issue for some but we weren't bothered by them. Would recommend it highly.

Great House and Great Hosts!

We came to the area for an Irish Dance competition, and instead of staying in a hotel we opted to look for a home we could share with my sister and her family. The house was perfect and fit all of our needs. The hosts were very responsive during the whole stay and leading up to. Prior to our trip Nicky reached out and asked how old our girls were that were competing over the weekend, and she wanted to provide them goody bags. I was a super sweet gesture and our girls loved it! Nicky also had the house fully stocked with pretty much anything we needed, toiletries, coffee, condiments, and such. It's a great house, and the kids loved all the games! I would definitely come back if we are in the area again!

Before I get into the property I want to caution future guests that Apple Maps gives you the wrong directions but Google Maps is correct. The neighborhood is a mixed bag but we didn’t have any issues. There are two garage bays, but one side was being used as storage. The garage isn’t deep and likely won’t accommodate an SUV or larger, but there is room for probably four cars outside if you don’t mind juggling. We stayed in the winter and definitely did not get to take advantage of all the amenities. Everything was nice, new, and clean. We did some cooking while there and found the facilities well stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils required for basic needs, as well as the standard herbs and spices. It was all either new or very well cared for because I felt like I was the first one to use them. My wife thought the bed was too firm. I thought the bed was perfect. My daughter complained about being in the upstairs bedroom and the slope of the roof. But she is always complaining about something so I don’t know how much stock to put in her words. Our dog loved the fenced backyard where she was able to run and play. There is a fire pit back there that looked nice but we didn’t use it. The deck and the view were excellent. I’d like to go back in the summer. All the furniture was comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace and TV in the living room. The welcome basket was a nice touch and the variety of K-cups and hot chocolate was appreciated. Thanks!

Lovely home base for a sentimental trip

We visited on a mostly rainy and chilly weekend in mid-November and still had a lovely time. We were visiting Cedar Lake where my parents honeymooned in 1956, so the trip was very special to us. And the owner, Nicky, could not have done more to make us comfortable. The house is lovely and has all the comforts you could want. Nicky was responsive and quick to answer questions we had prior to making our reservation, as well as after and while we were there. She stocked the house with staples and everything was clean when we arrived. Beds were very comfortable and the sunrise views were breathtaking!! I highly recommend getting up to see them. Everything was as described in the description and shown in the pictures. The location is great. Close enough to the things you might want to visit, but far enough away to have the privacy you might want. If we didn't live so far away (Florida), we'd definitely be back. Thanks, Nicky!
