I’ll break this down by the pros and cons.
Pros:
The house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood.
We had to travel in 2 vehicles, and parking was never a problem. There was always plenty of street parking available, and next to no vehicle traffic in the neighborhood.
It’s relatively clean, and nicely decorated.
There’s a huge deck with plenty of furniture to enjoy outdoors.
A nice tv and appliances are provided.
It’s a straight, 15 minute walk to an entrance to the beach.
Cons:
I love that a washer/dryer were provided, but the ones provided were old, tiny capacity, and the dryer took an hour and a half to dry even small loads. Plus, they’re really loud when they run, and they’re right in the kitchen, so it’s annoying if you’re in the kitchen or living room.
It’s clearly stated that no linens are provided, but having to lug linens with everything else that we have to pack was a nuisance. It would be nice to have those things provided.
The air conditioning was extra cold in the bathroom. We had a toddler with us and had to wrap her in blankets after her baths because she was shivering from the cold, and there was no way to divert the cold air.
The flooring wasn’t properly installed, and there were big gaps between the planks. Ordinarily I wouldn’t care, but there were tiny ants in the gaps near the front door. The front screen door also doesn’t close completely, so if my granddaughter pushed on the screen door, it would open. Not a feature you want with a 15 month old that likes to run.
Even on the highest setting, the fridge was barely cold. The freezer worked perfectly, but not the fridge.
The property manager is very hands off, which is nice for privacy, but we stayed at a different rental house in Cape May last summer, and that property manager touched base with us at check in and check out to make sure things were ok. He provided beach tags for guests’ use as well as a binder full of useful information about Cape May for guests. I missed that kind of hospitality with this stay.
All in all it was a nice house. I just wish there was as much attention paid to craftsmanship of things (like the flooring and sloppily installed bathtub) and working condition of appliances as there was to decor.
