After hiking to nearby waterfalls, tubing or fishing, return to wash your cares away in the spacious primary ensuite, where green tea-infused bath soaps, towels & a blow drier are provided.
Round out your day in the private hot tub just outside the primary bedroom or reflect on your adventures around the firepit while roasting marshmallows or hot dogs (reusable roasting sticks provided).
BEDROOM AMENITIES:
You'll find 100% soft, cotton linens on all 3 beds, along with several full-size pillows for your use. Both bedrooms feature new queen-size memory foam mattresses & attached bathrooms. The living room features a new QUEEN sofa bed with upgraded Sealy gel mattress.
ENTERTAINMENT:
A ping-pong set converts the dining table to a ping-pong table. There are a variety of puzzles, card games and board games in the living room chest. There are DVD players in the living room & bedrooms, and a large selection of movies is provided for all age groups. (no cable tv & no streaming services) Mountain wifi is slow & intermittent. Our guests love the chance to unplug & reconnect with friends & loved ones without distractions.
Travelling with a little one? You'll find kid-friendly dishes and non-spill cups in the kitchen. Electrical outlets have safety covers on them. There are children's books in the bedroom & games in the living room chest. Cooper Creek Trout pond is just down the road & is a beautiful place to take kids fishing! (they provide everything)
LOCATION
Bryson City, NC is the quieter, less touristy area of the Smoky Mountains and is knows as the "outdoor adventure capital of the Smoky Mountains." It boasts a quaint downtown with many shops and restaurants, as well as The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. The cabin is 15 minutes or less to GSMNP Deep Creek, hikes to waterfalls, Oconaluftee Visitor Center, Blue Ridge Parkway, Newfound Gap Rd, zip lining, white water rafting, mountain biking, Downtown Bryson City & Cherokee, Smoky Mountain Railroad, Cooper Creek Trout pond (2 mins down the road) & more. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge & Ashville are nearby too for fun & easy day trips.
The roads to Playin' Hooky Cabin are mostly all paved & well maintained. When you turn off Cooper Creek Rd, which is flat, onto the road that the cabin is on, you will climb in elevation quickly and continue up the brief but winding, paved road. Suggest arriving during daylight if possible to make your initial approach as simple as possible.
GROCERIES
There is a Dollar General less than 5 mins from the cabin. It has a nice selection of grocery items, toiletries, medicine, etc. There is an IGA about 15 mins away.

We are available 7 days a week to answer your emails & calls.
CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES
Check in is after 4pm. Check out is by 10am. We need the time between to prepare for our next guests.
IMPORTANT NOTES
-SMOKING and vaping are *not* allowed inside the cabin. Any evidence of smoking or vaping inside the cabin will result in forfeiture of damage deposit. Please restrict all smoking activities to the firepit area and safely discard all cigarette butts and other trash.
-PETS are *not* allowed.
**Minimum booking age is 25 yrs old. Exceptions taken for younger newly weds interested in honeymooning at Playin' Hooky Cabin. Contact us prior to booking for written authorization.**
COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Your safety is our top priority. Our cleaning crew extensively sanitizes the cabin after every guest. All linens are washed in high temp water and all high touch surfaces disinfected. The hot tub is also treated with disinfecting chemicals after each guest.
