Room was spotless and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful throughout stay and informative of the local area. Food in the evening was great too. I have driven past The Downs Hotel many times on my way to stay in Brighton Marina for work in the area. The Down is definitely my new choice of hotel in the Brighton and Hove area.

Lovely decoration! The room is very clean. Staff is nice. Breakfast is fantastic too! The bed is so lovely and comfortable but I think the other sofa bed is suitable for 2 little kids or 1 adult only.

Stylish comfortable room with parking
Lovely clean and modern room above the pub. Stylish decor, 2 chairs, nice big bed and breakfast had good choice. Pub noise heard but nice and quiet at closing time

Our room was very clean and well presented. The bathroom was excellent. The only negative about the room was that it was very hot,windows could only be opened slightly for safety reasons. A fan had been provided but in the unseasonally hot weather it was not of much use. All the staff were so polite and helpful.

We found our room very clean with a lovely shower, everything was in good condition and clean. The public areas were well kept and nicely decorated. Food in the evening and at breakfast was very good and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The only down side was the busy road directly outside and associated traffic noise. Luckily our bedroom was at the back and was quiet.

We booked this as a 2 night stay with baby and teenager in tow. Very accommodating and provides a travel cot. Lovely set up as rooms above the pub and nicely decorated, modern and clean. Rooms were very hot but can’t be helped most hotels have this but a fan was provided. Angela kept the rooms immaculate and Gemma was amazing in the morning with our breakfast as well as the manager (I didn’t get her name) who was very helpful. We booked here as didn’t want to be right in the centre and most places don’t have parking and have to pay £25 a day to park in multi story car parks. They had a free car park and bus stop directly opposite which in 15 minutes we were in the centre which was ideal. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner as did that in town but the pub and menu itself looked lovely. Breakfast was great you could have something of the continental and hot options x

Clean and tidy, cozy and quiet small hotel
A small hotel with pub/restaurant on G/F and rooms on 1/F. Surprisingly it is very clean and tidy, cozy and quiet with the front view facing the Channel of England. Room is new and well equipped, comparable to 4-star plus hotel. Can also see the owner treats the guests’ comment very seriously. For example, someone mentioned the room is a bit warm during summer time so the hotel proactively provided ventilation fan for more comfy stay. We are having a family of 4 including 2 elder kids, so if you have this set up, I suggest you may book 2 rooms instead of a family room which included a Queen size double bed and a double sofa bed. The sofa double bed would be a bit small for 2 elder kids. Apart from that, all are very well including the breakfast that you won’t want to miss. Special thanks goes to Myline for keeping the room very well for our stay!

A fantastic large room with everything you need for a short break . Great bus location to get into Brighton . Local area not the best and not as near to downs as expected good view across fields to sea if you lucky as we were to be in right position in hotel. Good walk in field across road

One of the best rooms we've ever stayed in!
This is definitely one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in! Free parking outside, then you go in and get greeted in a very friendly and welcoming manner. Rare these days I can tell you! Everything is explained in detail and you are taken to your room. Room 6 in our case - immaculate, spacious and spotless. Massive comfy King bed with beautiful bedding and cushions. Large bathroom with massive shower and large bath. Soft bath towels. Plenty of shelf space for your own items. On the dressing table is a mirror, coffee pod machine with pods, kettle and tea bags. Milk pods provided and even oat milk sachets. Unbelievable. There's an empty mini fridge for your cold water or own drinks if you stay for more than one night. I wish we had!! I even had a welcome card on the dressing table - thank you Angela - which was so lovely. Of course everything was perfect. Plenty of storage plus an ironing board, iron and hairdryer. And the sea view if the weather is good. Large TV, full length mirror and upright fan. Amazing. Justin looked after us at check in and the evening meal and was excellent. A real credit to you. Lovely food, both at evening and breakfast. Wonderful staff. You are on a bus route to Brighton if you want to leave your car! Bus 22. Good value in todays current climate. Loved it!!!

Breakfast dissapointing. Not up to normal standards, Full English, poor quality Bacon. Eggs benedict served with bacon and not Palma ham. Tomato juice not good.

3.5 Star Hotel with 5 Star Serice
This hotel was a great find. It may only have a 3.5 star rating, but the experience was definitely 5 star. From the moment that we walked in, we were welcomed with a happy smile from the staff, who worked quickly and efficiently to get us checked in and shown up to our room. Well what can I say about the room. It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and it was just perfect. There was even a little card left by Chelsea from the housekeeping team, to welcome us for our stay. What a thoughtful touch. The accommodation is above the pub/ restaurant part of the building, but also has its own access door, so you can come and go as you please. Breakfast was included and there is an option to gave either a continental style, or a full English. The views from the front of the hotel are amazing, looking over the downs towards the sea and Brighton. There is a bus stop almost outside, where you can catch either the number 2 or the 22 busses into Brighton if you don’t fancy taking the car and paying the extremely high price carpark charges. Busses run approximately every 20 minutes. If you are looking for a lovely base to explore Brighton from, without having to stay in the town itself, then I would highly recommend The Downs Hotel. We had a great stay. Thank you everyone who looked after us so well.
