Winter activities In winter, the region loses absolutely none of its allure with its excellent sun and snow conditions. The Maloja ski runs (Aela) are still regarded as insider spots in the Engadin Valley as it is right here that skiers have the enormous advantage of reveling in this exhilarating sport “far from the madding crowd” and at the same time feeling immersed in a part of Switzerland with a rich & fascinating cultural heritage.?2 children’s ski lifts, ice-skating on the naturally frozen lake, snow tubing, tobogganing and amazing breathtaking mountain walks. The snow glistens along the entire 200 km long cross-country trail, which leads past lakes through rugged, romantic lateral valleys.?All these exceptional entertainment treats should be reason enough to take part in the Engadin Ski Marathon, the world's second largest open cross-country skiing race or to explore this wintry wonderland at a more leisurely pace. The cross-country trail to Plaun Canin passing Lake Cavloccio is fairly demanding but equally stunning and breathtaking, making it a truly worthwhile & unforgettable experience.

Four flow trails on the Corviglia guarantee a perfect flow. Equally popular among sports enthusiasts are the Upper Engadin lakes; kiting, sailing, windsurfing, stand up paddling – the possibilities are virtually endless. The expanse of the inspiring high-lying valley can be experienced in a particularly striking way on the two 18-hole golf courses in Samedan and Zuoz. And besides the wide range of sporting options, visitors can take advantage of the first-class cultural activities on offer, such as a visit to a museum or to one of the numerous art galleries in the various villages.  


In winter, the ski areas of Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza and family friendly Zuoz invite ski and snowboard enthusiasts to revel in 350 kilometres (218 miles) of the finest powder snow. Cross-country skiers will find over 220km (137 miles) of perfectly groomed trails in the Upper Engadin and the side valleys. The winter hiking paths and cross-country ski trails on the frozen Upper Engadin lakes are characterised by their light, sunshine and space amidst inspiring Alpine scenery. Those who would like to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the snow-covered forests can explore the side valleys of Val Roseg, Val Fex or Val Bever on 150 kilometres (90 miles) of winter hiking paths. Visitors who prefer to have everything in view, meanwhile, will delight in the breathtaking vistas on the panorama hiking trails high above the lakes on Muottas Muragl.  


Families can bask in the Engadin sun during a ride in a horse-drawn carriage into the Val Roseg or Val Fex, or race down the mountainside into the valley on the winding, 4.2km (2.6 mile) long toboggan run on Muottas Muragl.
