It was a cute place even though it was very small, but the bedrooms were decent sized. Decorations were cute. Parking was very tight next to a pole and hard to get in and out of in the dark. There is someone that lives above you and they were loud. Write the door codes down because I had to cross the street for a signal when we arrived late. If you stay here, hopefully you won't have any issues because when we stayed the water got stuff off on us for 7 hours right in the middle of our Saturday stay from 10am to 5pm. The owner had no answers and we had to leave the property without showering or eating lunch there as we planned. The owner seemed concerned but had no follow up information for me and we had to continually go back to see if it was fixed. We were just about to get a different place to stay when it came back on. The owner promised a credit for the trouble which I assumed would be based on the time we did not get to use it verse how long we rented it. To my dissappointment, the credit was only 30. When I messaged them twice asking for 140 for the hourly breakdown of the time we couldn't use the unit (that doesn't even include the extra expense we had to pay for lunch because we had to eat out), they said they gave us the maximum discount. It's sad that I gave them two chances to make good and they refused. I don't like giving bad reviews, but be aware that if you have an issue here, don't expect much compensation from the owner.

Cute place! Perfect size for our group of 3 adults. Kitchen was nicely equiped. Everything is within walking distance from the house. The cons of this house are the small bathrooms and the upstairs neighbors can be heard all hours of the day and night.

This property is advertised as "sleeps 6" but I do not think that is an accurate description. There are two bedrooms that comfortably accommodate 4 adults and 1 couch that fits 1 small adult or child. The adult who slept on the couch reported having a really hard time sleeping due to discomfort and cleanliness. Additionally, there were no sheets provided for the pull out couch. We noticed this up on arrival and messaged the host. The host informed us that someone would deliver sheets soon and that never happened during our 3 night stay. The couch that was slept on without sheets was not hygienic and there were a lot of stains that made us uncomfortable. Additionally on the last night during our stay there was a mouse in the living room. No food was left out by us that would have attracted it. I notified the host about our grievances and no satisfactory resolution was achieved.

The bed was very comfortable however the unit was very small. We had purchased a couple bags of chips to find out mice had chewed their way in to them to partake. Just glad we didn’t see them. The unit was small and overpriced.

Very clean, comfortable, with cute decor. 3 minute walk from an excellent bakery and coffee shop that serves breakfast sandwiches, we walked there every morning. Also close to the beach. Neighborhood was quiet.

Good, but not advertised correctly

The property was clean, well stocked, and the owners were very communicative. The bathrooms were a bit small, but were clean and stocked. HOWEVER. This is a downstairs unit. People live full time upstairs. They have 2 dogs and a kid. You can hear them running around all the time. We stayed 3 nights, and were woken up all 3 mornings at 6:00am. Also, one night we couldn’t sleep because they were up until 1:00am and we could hear yelling on occasion. I was disappointed that It was advertised as no pets and quiet hours, as the upstairs tenants didn’t have to abide by this as well. If we knew ahead of time we a least would have been prepared. The owners spoke with the tenants multiple times for us, but that didn’t do anything.

Inaccurate listing

There were quite a few complaints but I will summarize the top few.1. The pictures and written description of the property are extremely deceptive from the actual property. The location is less than desirable- the parking is almost a hazard with a power pole located in the middle of the driveway. Do not drive anything larger than a small SUV to this home.2. The upstairs tenants are loud starting at 6am, there’s a dog and a child that seem to run from one end of the house to the other. Every footstep is heard throughout the day/night.3. Cleanliness is marginal. There were clumps of hair, toenail clippings and old hair ties underneath the bed. The couch is filthy and covered in stains.4. Bathrooms are almost unmanageable in size. To say they were small would be an understatement. One of the bathrooms does not have a vanity light so if you are trying to put in contacts or do your makeup,you cannot.5. VRBO hosts have great communication and the bedding seemed clean. Other than that- would not recommend or stay again.Sad to say I have never written a negative review before this one and it was hard to write but wanted to inform.

Perfect for a girls trip weekend

As soon as we entered, we immediately noticed how clean it smelled and looked in the apartment and we really appreciated the little touches that was left such as games to play and popcorn cups left for the four of us. The location is great and the decorations around the apartment were an amazing added touch!

Great Location, Lovely Property

We loved this adorably decorated, clean property. Luckily we had nice weather and Salem is a walkable town, so we often walked in to dine out and visit the shops since parking was difficult to find. Other reviews mentioned the narrowness of the driveway and the pole on the street at the end of the driveway; we had two sizable SUVs and didn’t have any issues. The kitchen is a good size and we enjoyed the coffee bar, plus the coffee shop just a block or so away. Bedrooms are a great size, too. As noted, bathrooms are a little tight but it was nice having two to use. Overall, we were very happy with the property, a little gem in a great location. We would stay here again!

We had a lovely time visiting Salem and this was a great location to all of the fun activities, the property manager was very attentive and the sleeping space worked out nice for our group. Bathrooms were small but it was nice to have multiple :)

Overall great stay, my daughters loved the decor and little Halloween fun! Pros: close to Salem attractions, communication was very clear, spooky decor, and house was clean. Cons which are completely out of the owners control: house is very small, bathrooms are a tight fit, driveway also snug with pole at end of driveway (we were able to fit RAV4 Toyota beside it but anything bigger might be hard), and footsteps from upstairs (adult & pet or child). It is an older home so those things are to be expected. The owners were very responsive and you can tell they take care of their home. We appreciate the sharing of their home!

Great place!

A very nice stay. Very well organized and avoid location. Beds allow a great sleep. If you might not like small bathrooms and a neighbour you can hear walking on the upper level you might consider another place but we did really like the place.

Really Cute

This property is really cute. The house was built in 1870 so it is quirky but well maintained. We came in August and struggled to be comfortable temperature wise with the window units. This place would be ideal in cooler months. The host was fantastic and communicative.

Great location!

5 stars! The location was perfect for us - close to downtown, walking distance. We drove up to Gloucester one day for whale watching (which was incredible!) and also went to the beach. It was an easy walk to the train station that took us right into Boston. The property had all the amenities we needed for the three nights we were there. Cutely decorated and the hospitality was great. Agree with the comments on tight parking but we did have a mini van which made it easy for the kids to get in and out. Would recommend this location for anyone visiting the Salem/Boston area.

2 nights in Salem

The home was beautifully decorated and, despite its small size, we found it comfortable for our two-night stay. The master bedroom and second bedroom were cozy, each equipped with air conditioning units in the windows, which was a relief during the hot weather. However, the bathrooms were quite small; my husband, who is 6'4" and over 200 lbs, found them uncomfortably tight. Caution is advised with the electrical outlets in the bedrooms as they were loose from the wall. While the location wasn't within walking distance to many attractions, a short drive was sufficient. The parking space, suitable only for a small car, was complicated by a electical pole at the end of it, which made navigating very difficult. All in all, we had a very nice stay. Salem is a lovely town full of history.
