"Room was simple. There was no refrigerator in the room and the bed was too hard to my liking, but I think that may be the preferred way in Costa Rica. Other than that Las Espuelas is a nice place to stay at least a short while. The pool area is really nice. The restaurant is normal good standard. The real plus was the courtesy of the personel."

"Had a fine stay for one night in a nice, clean room with Wi-Fi. It's a good hotel for the person passing by or on the way to the airport. The staff could have been a bit more helpful, but then again I did arrive late at night. The room and bathroom were nice, clean and spacious."

"Do not be discouraged by the road to Rancho Humo, what lies at the end turned out to be a real gem. This property is nestled up against the central wetlands of Nicoya peninsula on the shore of the Tempisque river and is a definitive location for birdwatchers from all over. My wife and I are not birdwatchers but booked this based on its remote location and its high marks from other reviews. We also booked in offseason so fortunately for us we were the only guests and the staff was so great...

" Exceptionally clean, quaint. Very spacious rooms available! Attached to Hotel Karao is quaint Coffee Shop Karao, Small outdoor patio, great coffee and wonderful Chocolate Banana Bread and many other baked breakfast food items. Bottled water, Front Desk and coffee shop staffed 7am-5pm. Check in 24/7, but you will be given code to retrieve room keys after about 5 pm. Phone number of local owners to help is posted if you have an issue. Staff was exceptional and friendly. Very clean and attentive....
