Peaceful historic log cabin getaway on 40 acres - NO cleaning fee!



Welcome to the Rebecca Behm antique log cabin. Named after the wife of Andrew Behm, the original 1864 owner of our private 40 acres. The 2000 square feet cabin is located on a dead-end road with very little traffic, it's the perfect spot to relax and getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. The logs in the cabin are antique, but don't worry, you will enjoy all modern amenities. There is central heat and air-conditioning, to keep you comfortable year round. Do you like to cook? The kitchen is fully stocked with bakeware and a refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen and dining area have an open floor plan. You can dine on the large custom made, reclaimed lumber farm table with plenty of seating for all your guests. Featured in the kitchen/dining area is an antique wood bar and large stone topped table. When the weather is nice you can step right outside the kitchen to the porch to use the gas grill and enjoy the forest scenery while dining at the outdoor table. The living room features a wood burning fireplace (we provide all firewood) and comfortable furniture with cozy blankets for those cool winter evenings. There is a unique antique walnut corner cabinet that contains the television connected to Dish network. There are 3 bedrooms each with queen size beds and pillowtop mattresses. The upstairs master suite has a cozy sitting area and connects to a spacious timber framed bathroom. We provide a full size washer and dryer in the laundry room. The 2 bathrooms have custom tiled showers and hand made vanities out of reclaimed materials. We enjoy collecting antiques and have incorporated several pieces of unique furniture throughout the house. One of of favorite features of this cabin are the large porches that surround the home. The outdoor fireplace (all wood is provided) is great for roasting smores and enjoying the star filled sky.

There are several attractions all located 30 minutes from the cabin. The world famous Serpent Mound, the Wheat Ridge Amish Shops, the Edge of Appalachia and Arc of Appalachia nature preserve hiking trails, Ohio Brush creek which is great for canoeing, kayaking and fishing, Adams Lake State park, Shawnee State Park, Mineral Springs Lake and the Adams County Quilt Barn trail.

We had an wonderful stay! This cabin is amazing - the workmanship was impressive! As others have already said, it is super clean, and the peace and quiet of the area cannot be beat. Serpell was a wonderful host - she checked to make sure we didn't need anything, and let us know she was nearby if something came up. There were pamphlets and recommendations for anything we needed. We understood everything would be a drive, but that's what we wanted - to be in the middle of nowhere, with the sounds of nature all around us. (We also enjoyed walking to the barn to see the cows in person.) I can only imagine that the prairie of wildflowers is beautiful when in bloom, so we'll just have to come back! We hiked several trails - Buzzardroost Rock was worth the climb for the end result's view. (I would love to see it in the Fall.) But we preferred Quiverheart Gorge, which was beautiful the entire route - with a lovely waterfall, interesting rock formations, and amazing moss, ferns, and wildflowers for us to see during the entire walk. We also took a day trip to Portsmouth to view the Floodwall Mural, which was definitely worth the drive! The cabin was a great place to return to every evening, and we truly felt at home. We definitely enjoyed the covered side porch and the swing!! We listened to birds, read books, and enjoyed hearing the sound of rain hit the roof one evening. We HIGHLY recommend this cabin and the owner(s) for a fantastic vacation experience!!

Quiet retreat

Beautiful, quiet location on a small farm. Gorgeous cabin with rustic feel. So peaceful. Great place for our family of 4 to rest, unplug, unwind and spend some unhurried time together. Plenty of opportunities for short hikes nearby, or just stay in the cabin and chill. We were there in the cool part of spring, and the kids loved having a fireplace both indoors and outdoors.

Just love this place!

It's beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, hospitable, clean, and down right wonderful. My only complaint (and it's more of a suggestion) is different shower heads. The water comes out in a wide spray which makes it very hard to get all the shampoo out. Just a thought.

Cabin getaway

The cabin is beautiful and secluded. The indoor fireplace we couldn’t use so that was a disappointment since it was one of the things I was looking forward to. We did use the outdoor fireplace and that was nice. Stores are quite far for groceries so remember to take everything you need because running out for something is not an option the roads are narrow and winding so distance seems further. Also ask when booking about the “Contract” I received a contract from the host 4 days before we were scheduled to be at the cabin, we had already paid in full and could not have canceled so it seemed we should of seen it when booking? I gave 5 stars because the Cabin really deserved it but those little details matter in my opinion.

Everything was perfect!

This was our third time staying at this cabin, and most likely won't be our last time. The cabin is perfect, with everything you need inside, a number of sitting areas outside, and the surrounding area is quiet and very peaceful. The hosts are wonderful and think of everything you would need to make the stay easy and carefree.

Always amazing!

Another wonderful stay! Our 3rd time visiting and love it more and more. Very clean, beautifully decorated and just a great place to relax for the weekend. We enjoy building memories here and our kids beg to go back regularly. Thank you for creating such a special place!

Peaceful and relaxing

This remote cabin was everything we hoped for. We stayed 4 nights to get away from our busy lives. The cabin was perfect for this de stress from everyday life. If you like the pictures then you will love it here. It was clean and it had everything we needed. I absolutely fell in love with this cabin. I hope to visit ago someday because it was just what I needed at this hectic time in my life. I came back home refreshed and sad at the some time. Sad because I missed this beautiful cabin.

Absolutely Fantastic!

Pictures do not do this house justice. We’ve stayed many places and this is by far our favorite! What a beautifully done home! Not just the build but the attention to detail. Serpell said her husband built this log cabin… he’s a genius to detail. They also had thought of everything we would or could need during our stay! And the on property prairie trails were so beautiful and well maintained! Wow! Just can’t say enough about what a wonderful stay this was. This was a romantic getaway for our 23rd anniversary, but now can’t wait to bring our whole family back to enjoy this wonderful place!

Peaceful Getaway

My husband and I were looking for a peaceful place to get away and unplug for a couple days and this cabin was amazing. It's secluded and surrounded by nature. The cabin was beautiful, very clean, and had great amenities. The fireplace outside was a wonderful spot to relax at night. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee on the porch and watching all the butterflies and dragonflies on the wildflower field. We even had a couple baby deer that came by each night to graze. It was great for just my husband and I, but would be a fun place for a family as well. I would highly recommend this cabin and would love to go back there someday.

Cozy and peaceful

Family had a wonderful time, will definitely stay again. It is off the beaten path and very cozy and rustic. The only downside was Tuesday we lost electric due to a storm but it was back on in matter of a few hours. The owners came to check on us to make sure we were ok and reminded us where everything was.

Great time with a few glitches

The property is beautiful and the pictures are a good representation of the cabin. The cabin was very clean and had plenty of kitchenware to support making meals which we did as restaurants were farther than we wanted to go. It was quiet, restful and exactly what we were looking for. The beds were comfortable and the linens good quality. There were plenty of inside and outside blankets, towels and pillows. Both of our cell phones had adequate reception. The glitches - I was not a fan of the water. It was fine to shower and wash dishes with but cooking or drinking just tasted off. The first night we made a fire in the outdoor fire place and after about 45 minutes we went inside and the cabin was full of smoke. We opened all the windows and the smoke cleared within an hour. That made us a little leery of having another fire the rest of the nights. The cabin still smelled smokey all weekend but we didn't mind that. The next day there were honey bees inside the cabin, but they soon left - it was just odd. Also be aware that you are in a woods and wildlife will come on the deck(s) if you leave goodies outside. We were sure to bring in everything but 3 racoons still visited every night. Oddly they didn't bother the compost bucket or the trash.
