We spent two weeks in Black Seahorse late Sept/early Oct and had a lovely holiday. The house is clean and comfortable, situated on a modern estate of mostly holiday homes which is immaculately kept and was very quiet. Weather was a blessing and the balcony has plenty of sun, with views onto a green area and glimpses of the sea. Hot tub was perfect for a quiet unwind looking up at the view. Even saw the Northern Lights on our last night, which was very special. We were aware that it’s an “upside down†house and as we expected, there is no loo on the first floor which is the open plan living area. We had thought this might be tricky for our less sprightly party members, but the handrail on the stairs actually made them easy enough to navigate. In terms of practicalities, we organised a Tesco delivery and there is an Express which is walking distance too. We have a little dog so we eat in, so this is always useful. Location wise, it’s a very short drive to our favourite haunts of Appledore, Instow and slightly longer to Woolacombe, Lynmouth, Hartland and South Molton for the pannier market. We didn’t find a dog friendly 5 minute walk to the beach, but Westward Ho! itself is approx 20 minutes. The only negative comments I have, which are intended to be helpful, is that the pots and pans have been well used and are ready to be replaced with new ones. Crockery, cutlery and glassware is spotless. Also, we ordered a shower mat from Amazon because of our particular needs - whether others might find one handy could be something to consider.Overall, a great holiday and our thanks to the owner for letting their lovely property.
