A private log cabin on 5.8 wooded acres above the Shenandoah River, with no other homes within a quarter mile. Soak in the hot tub, shoot pool in the new game room, and warm up by two gas fireplaces, one beside the tub in the owner's suite. The river access is a 10 minute walk, and the Tuscarora Trail is 3 minutes away by car. 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, sleeps 6.
The game room (new in March 2026)
The lower level opens right onto the hot tub. It has an 8 foot Brunswick slate pool table, a wet bar, a TV with couches, a table for board games, a desk and a bathroom with a shower.
Main floor
The great room has tall windows, a gas fireplace, the dining table and a full kitchen with drip and Keurig coffee makers. The owner's suite has a king bed, a TV and a two sided gas fireplace it shares with its bath, which has dual sinks, a tub and a shower. There's also an additional half bath in the main level great room.
Upstairs
Two bedrooms with queen beds, a full bath, and an open loft with a futon that looks over the great room. The loft has little privacy, so it's best for a young child.
Outside
A Jacuzzi hot tub with a waterfall sits under the deck and seats 6. There's deck seating, a gas grill, a fire pit (bring firewood) and a wooden A frame fort for kids.
Work and charge
Starlink Wi-Fi runs at about 110 Mbps, fast enough for video calls, and there's a desk. The Level 2 EV charger (ChargePoint, J1772 plug) works for Teslas with a J1772 adapter.
Good to know
The cabin sleeps 6, the limit set by the HOA, county and state. Check in is 4 PM and checkout is 11 AM, since our cleaners need the five hours between stays. Early check in is sometimes possible when the night before is open, and we confirm by 5 PM the day before. Cooking basics like oil, salt and pepper are stocked, but a guest before you may have used them up. The well water runs through a Culligan filter that's tested every quarter, and the cabin is on septic.
The whole cabin and its 5.8 acres are yours. River Oak's river access and pavilion are about a 10 minute walk away, and the Tuscarora Trail parking area is a 3 minute drive or about a 15 minute walk. Three storage rooms in the basement stay locked.
Lizzie and I reply quickly and send detailed directions and guides before you arrive. My parents live in the neighborhood and I live about 90 minutes away in the DC area, so help is close if anything comes up.
**IMPORTANT***
A note on the area info: Vrbo auto-generates the “area” and “what’s nearby” sections, including distances and nearby places, using AI, and some are inaccurate. For example, the river is about a 10 minute walk from the house, not the shorter time shown. Please confirm any distance with us or in your maps app before booking.
