L’Estrella was very different from how it appeared in its clearly outdated publicity photos. On arrival, the first thing we saw as the gate opened was a pile of empty oil cans and an empty plastic bag just inside the entrance, which created a poor first impression. The house itself is now largely hidden by overgrown shrubs and trees, and the stairs leading up to it felt unsafe, with rotten posts and unstable handrails.Although the apartment had been cleaned, it did not appear to have been done thoroughly, and overall it felt rather grimy. The bedding was of poor quality, noticeably worn, and heavily bobbled from use. Used towels had been left scattered around the terrace, along with other bits of debris, which added to the sense of neglect. The weather was fortunately on our side, and the main redeeming feature was the spacious terrace, which was lovely to use. Even so, this area too was in need of maintenance, with the wooden decking looking well beyond its best. The apartment is in a beautiful location, but the property itself feels tired and in need of some care and attention. Thank goodness for the sunshine!
